Futuristic Innovations are Born on Discovery Channel's All-New Series PROTOTYPE THIS!

- 13-Part Series Beginning in October -

SILVER SPRING, Md., July 10 -- Are you still waiting for the Jetson's lifestyle to arrive? Do you spend time looking for your missing jet pack in the Sharper Image catalog? Have you ever encountered heavy traffic on the freeway and wished you could kick your car into "jumping mode" to get past it? Take heart -- the future is now! Discovery Channel's all-new series, PROTOTYPE THIS! brings viewers straight to the drawing board and through the design process to experience firsthand as inventions come to life. The series, shot entirely in high definition, premieres in October and features one-of-a kind prototypes of tomorrow for people to experience today.

Out to prove that the only limits to innovation are our own imaginations, PROTOTYPE THIS! features a dream team of electronics specialists, engineers, professors, and special effects experts, who combine the best of emerging technology with new ideas to create forward-thinking products. From a road rage-proof car to a high-tech alarm clock that provides not only a wake up chime but an automated shower, valet service, and mechanized butler to send you out the door, the PROTOTYPE THIS! team constructs products that tackle modern inconveniences and problems we all confront.

"PROTOTYPE THIS! exemplifies ingenuity under pressure, combining creative ideas with modern science and state-of-the-art technology," said John Ford, president and general manager of Discovery Channel. Other prototypes featured throughout the series include an inflatable car, a six-legged robot that can safely carry a human through any type of terrain, and a waterslide simulator that will provide an amusement park-like thrill ride from the comfort of a backyard.

Carrying on the tradition of other curiosity-seeking shows like Discovery Channel's MYTHBUSTERS and SMASH LAB, PROTOTYPE THIS! provides a clever and entertaining look at science - and all the fun there is to be had when the world is your test lab.

PROTOTYPE THIS! is produced for Discovery Channel by Beyond Productions. The series is executive produced by John Luscombe from Beyond Productions and by Chris Rantamaki from Discovery Channel.
