TLC Puts The Real Back Into Real Estate
New Series HOPE FOR YOUR HOME and OVER DESIGNED premiere this summer as
part of the network's popular home block
LOS ANGELES, July 10 -- TLC today announced that it will
premiere two new series that will update the very popular property and
decorating genres to reflect the changing real estate market, and the
economy at large. Joining its successful Saturday night home-themed
programming will be HOPE FOR YOUR HOME, which helps homeowners find
solutions to their real-life mortgage challenges, and the decorating series
OVER DESIGNED, which celebrates people 'nesting' and making the home the
ultimate in self-expression. Both of these series are reflections of the
modern viewer who is looking to make the most out of their property
investment, and they expand on TLC's commitment to share authentic,
real-life situations.
"These series are a great compliment to our current lineup of
home-focused programs. They reflect both the concerns and aspirations of
our audience, while building on our brand of relatable, non-scripted
programming," explained Eric Black, Director of Programming, TLC.
About TLC's new home series:
HOPE FOR YOUR HOME (working title)
Series premieres Saturday August 9 at 8:30PM ET/PT HOPE FOR YOUR HOME takes on the tough circumstances so many homeowners
in this country are facing today. Hosted by real estate expert Kirsten Kemp
Becker (TLC's PROPERTY LADDER), HOPE FOR YOUR HOME lends a hand to
homeowners in financial need, by giving them critical resources to make
improvements to their property. The goal is to add enough value to their
home so they can either refinance their mortgage or make the best possible
sale. Kirsten advises the homeowners on what improvements will actually
increase a home's value, while a contractor ensures that all projects are
done properly and safely. Once the improvements are complete, a real estate
agent and a mortgage broker tour the home, examine the upgrades, and
determine a market value. In the end, the homeowners are empowered to
decide if they should stay in their newly renovated home, or sell their
home and find something more affordable for their family. Series is
produced by Actual Reality; Executive Producer is R.J. Cutler.
OVER DESIGNED
Series premiere TBD
OVER DESIGNED, hosted by design expert Kenneth Brown, checks in with
one person with unique style, ranging from creative collections that can't
be contained to an obsession with a outrageous motif. During each episode,
Kenneth, with the help from family and friends they will turn these rooms
into inviting and livable spaces for the whole family to enjoy, while
continuing to honor the nominee's passions. Series is produced by Discovery
Studios; Executive Producers are Nancy Daniels and Joan O'Conner.
