COMEDY CENTRAL(R) Signs Deal With Comedian Jo Koy for One-Hour Stand-Up Special

Stand-up Special to Tape November 6 at the New York Comedy Festival

NEW YORK, Oct. 23 -- COMEDY CENTRAL has signed dynamic comedian Jo Koy to shoot a one-hour stand-up special, it was announced today by Elizabeth Porter, senior vice president, specials and talent, COMEDY CENTRAL. Executive produced by Jo Koy and Dakota Pictures Troy Miller and Tracey Baird, the stand-up special will tape on November 6 at the New York Comedy Festival and will air in the first quarter of 2009.

"We've been tracking Jo Koy for a while and we saw him crush on Carlos Mencia's 'Punisher' tour," said Porter. "He's a young guy with a really inclusive voice -- it's going to be great to put him out front in such a big way."

Named one of the "10 comics to watch" in 2007 by Daily Variety, Jo Koy's captivating energy on stage and his approachable persona off-stage has his earned him a reputation as a "comic for the people." In 2005, Jo Koy received a standing ovation for his performance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," one of only a select few in the history of the show. Jo Koy participated in Carlos Mencia's "Punisher Tour," performing in front of 10,000-seat arenas across the country and has appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Last Call with Carson Daly." He starred in a "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" half-hour stand-up special as well as BET's "Comic View," and "Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza!"

Jo Koy's one-hour COMEDY CENTRAL Original Stand-up special will be executive produced by Jo Koy and Dakota Pictures' Miller and Baird. Porter is the executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.

Jo Koy is represented by Creative Artists Agency and Clayton Peters of CPI Management.
