SKYDANCE TV NETWORKS TO RE-AIR "THE CONCERT FOR NEW YORK CITY," MARKING ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY
Benefitting Robin Hood, Major Cultural Artifact Returns with Purpose: To Celebrate the Resilience and Spirit of New York City and Support New Yorkers in Need
NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2026 - Skydance today announced that MTV, VH1, MTV2 and Logo will re-air THE CONCERT FOR NEW YORK CITY on Tuesday, Oct. 20, the 25th anniversary of the historic benefit event, celebrating the night that helped mark the beginning of New York City's comeback while raising funds for Robin Hood, one of the city's leading anti-poverty organizations.
Staged in the aftermath of 9/11, the landmark concert brought together the music community, first responders, dignitaries and New Yorkers in an extraordinary demonstration of unity, generosity and resolve. Staged at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 20, 2001, THE CONCERT FOR NEW YORK CITY featured performances by Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Jay-Z, The Who, David Bowie, Destiny's Child, Elton John and more, along with appearances by Robert Niro, Derek Jeter and many others.
This anniversary presentation will once again support New Yorkers through Robin Hood, whose Robin Hood Relief Fund played a critical role in helping New Yorkers recover after 9/11 and continues to meet the urgent need of our city. Today, Robin Hood continues its mission of fighting poverty and expanding opportunities across all five boroughs. The re-airing connects the concert's mission of supporting New York's recovery with Robin Hood's ongoing work to help New Yorkers build more secure and prosperous futures.
"The music and entertainment worlds came together that night at Madison Square Garden to honor the city's heroic first responders as well as families that had endured unimaginable loss, and to help raise money for the thousands of low-income New Yorkers whose jobs and livelihoods disappeared overnight," said John Sykes, member of Robin Hood's Board of Directors. "Twenty-five years later, that spirit of generosity and unity is as important as ever."
"At Skydance, storytelling has the power to preserve history, celebrate community and inspire action," said Laurel Weir, EVP, head of programming, global programming acquisitions and strategic insights and research, Skydance TV. "We're honored to share this iconic concert with audiences again and use its legacy to support Robin Hood's ongoing efforts to create opportunity and strengthen communities across New York City."
"THE CONCERT FOR NEW YORK CITY remains a powerful reminder of what can happen when people come together in service of one another," said Paul Tudor Jones, founder of Robin Hood. "The same spirit that helped New York recover in the wake of 9/11 continues to drive Robin Hood's work today. Every day, we partner with organizations across the city to fight poverty, expand opportunity and help ensure that all New Yorkers have the chance to thrive."
Viewers can support that work at give.robinhood.org. Because Robin Hood's board covers administrative costs, 100% of donations go directly to fighting poverty in New York City.
