New Media Strategies Signs on to Spearhead NBC's Social Media Marketing, Digital Outreach and Measurement Programs in Support of Primetime, Late Night and Digital Properties

UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIF. - June 2, 2009 - NBC has hired New Media Strategies (NMS) to help maximize the network's social media marketing, digital outreach and measurement programs efforts. NMS will also focus on outreach to online portals and tracking viewer feedback. The efforts will be focused primarily on NBC's primetime, late-night and digital properties. The announcement was made today by Aaron Earls, Co-Founder & Vice President, New Media Strategies.

"Our team is thrilled to be working with NBC, both as social media strategists and avid television fans," said Earls. "We look forward to partnering with them to help launch an exciting slate of upcoming on-air and online programming."

The collaboration will deepen connections between NBC and viewers, social media communities, and online outlets to create awareness and excitement for NBC's entertainment programming and NBC.com features for popular shows such as "The Office" and "Saturday Night Live." NMS will deliver customized programs for every NBC show and NBC.com feature, further opening communication, content and talent access to fans across new media.

"Social media plays an increasing role in how television viewers discover shows and determine what they want to watch," said Jared Goldsmith, Director of Digital Promotions & Strategy, NBC Entertainment. "We are excited to partner with NMS, a pioneer in social media, to help us engage fans, strengthen the NBC brand and further our profile in online communities."

NMS will also provide unique insights to ensure that NBC is an active listener and participant in online conversations as they happen on Twitter, blogs, message boards and other emerging platforms. This two-way dialogue between fans and the network entertains and empowers viewers while offering the network valuable one-on-one dialogue with its audience.

"NBC has been an innovator across digital platforms including online and mobile, and we look forward to working with a partner that shares this spirit," said Matt Allen, Senior Executive Director, Marketing, NBC.com. "We recognize the power of social media's ability to impact our business and the new approach NBC is developing with NMS will allow us to maximize our distribution and promotional efforts."
