HOUSE OF PAYNE (TBS) - Gary Owen is set to team with Tyler Perry for a potential spin-off of the successful TBS series. Owen currently recurs as Zach, one of the barbers in the barbershop featured in the series, which in turn would presumably be the focus of the half-hour. The actor/comedian's life is also the focus of a comedy at Starz from executive producer Martin Lawrence.
THE MIDDLE (ABC) - Chris Kattan has been upped to regular on the freshman comedy, about a middle-class Midwestern family as seen through the eyes of the mother (Patricia Heaton). He'll continue on as Bob, a good friend of fellow car salesman of Heaton's character.
UNTITLED GREG GARCIA PROJECT (FOX, New!) - "My Name Is Earl" creator Greg Garcia has booked a put pilot commitment at the network for a new single-camera comedy about "a 25-year-old who winds up having to raise an infant with the help of his quirky family." The project is set up at 20th Century Fox Television where Garcia's overall deal is based. As for specifics, the kid in question was "the result of a one-night stand with a woman who ended up on death row for murder."
