Acclaimed Actress Julia Ormond Stars in Lifetime Movie Network's 'The Wronged Man'

Based on a Powerful True Story of one Woman's Fight to Exonerate a Wrongfully Convicted Man

Original Film From Executive Producer GALE ANNE HURD, Director TOM MCLOUGHLIN and Teleplay by TEENA BOOTH to Premiere January 17, 2010

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8 -- World renowned actress Julia Ormond (Legends of the Fall, Sabrina) headlines the Lifetime Movie Network Original Movie, The Wronged Man, an unforgettable story of one woman's 22-year quest for justice and redemption for a man wrongfully convicted of a crime that shook a small, Southern town. Based on a true story and from Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd (Terminator franchise, The Incredible Hulk), Director Tom McLoughlin (D.C. Sniper: 23 Days of Fear) and teleplay by Teena Booth (Natalee Holloway), the film follows the unlikely friendship between paralegal Janet "Prissy" Gregory (Ormond) and falsely accused Calvin Willis (Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, The 4400) as they fight to overturn his unjust sentence. The Wronged Man reunites Ormond and Ali, who both appeared in the critically acclaimed feature film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Produced by Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures and Sony Pictures Television, The Wronged Man will premiere Sunday, January 17, 2010, at 8pm ET/9pm PT, on Lifetime Movie Network, Lifetime's sister network and the second highest rated women's channel.

ABOUT THE WRONGED MAN

Janet "Prissy" Gregory (Ormond), a single mother with a haunted past, is a paralegal struggling to overcome doubts about the culpability of Calvin Willis (Ali), an African-American husband and father wrongfully accused of assaulting a neighborhood girl. Eventually convinced of Calvin's innocence, Janet decides, at great personal cost, to take on his case and fight for him when many of those closest to him turned their backs. Despite seemingly insurmountable odds, she wages a 22-year battle against the justice system, and with the help of The Innocence Project, an organization that works to exonerate wrongfully convicted people through DNA testing, she accomplished the near-impossible feat of overturning the travesty that put Calvin in prison for more than two decades.

Immediately following the film, Lifetime Movie Network will air a public service announcement (PSA) featuring Ormond. The PSA will educate and inform viewers about The Innocence Project. For more information, please visit www.mylifetime.com.
