Exclusive: TNT Books "Memphis Beat" for June 22; "Leverage" Heads to Sundays
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- TNT will kick off its summer schedule with a three-night event that says goodbye to "Saving Grace," hello to newcomer "Memphis Beat" and welcome back "HawthoRNe" and "Leverage."

This exclusive news was confirmed to the site earlier this evening.

It all begins on Sunday, June 20 at 9:00/8:00c with the two-hour season premiere of "Leverage" ("The Jailhouse Job/The Scheherazade Job"). The following night, Monday, June 21, "Saving Grace" airs its two-hour series finale ("I Need You To Call Earl/I'm Gonna Need a Big Night Light"), also at 9:00/8:00c. And finally on Tuesday, June 22 look for the return of "HawthoRNe" at 9:00/8:00c ("No Excuses") followed by the launch of "Memphis Beat" at 10:00/9:00c.

The latter, originally dubbed "Delta Blues," stars Jason Lee as Dwight Hendricks, "a Memphis police officer who lives with his mother (Celia Weston)" and "his intimate connection with the city and its people sets him apart from his fellow officers." Joshua Harto and Liz W. Garcia are behind the Warner Horizon Television-based hour, which also stars Abraham Benrubi, Alfre Woodard, DJ Qualls, Leonard Earl Howze, Robyn Lively and Sam Hennings. George Clooney and Grant Heslov also serve as executive producers via their Smokehouse Productions.

The following week, Sunday, June 27, "Leverage" will also run back-to-back originals starting at 9:00/8:00c ("The Reunion Job/The Double Blind Job").

Also on tap this summer: season six of "The Closer" in July, season two of "Dark Blue" in August and freshman entry "Rizzoli & Isles" at an unspecified date.
