FOX TALENT TO "GREEN IT. MEAN IT." DURING EARTH DAY CAMPAIGN

As part of Fox Broadcasting Company's annual "Green It. Mean It." campaign, an initiative designed to raise both viewer and employee awareness of environmental concerns, talent from FOX series will appear in network and affiliate on-air promos, as well as online at fox.com/earthday, to offer viewers "Green Tips" on how to help and get involved with environmental issues. The tips will also be provided to more than 2,000 radio stations for their use during all day parts throughout April.

Participating talent includes the entire cast of GLEE, and cast members from HOUSE, BONES, FRINGE, HUMAN TARGET and LIE TO ME; the AMERICAN IDOL judges and finalists; voices from FAMILY GUY and THE CLEVELAND SHOW; among other talent from FOX series.

Additionally, special-produced promos featuring cast members from GLEE offering their own version of green "GLEE Tips" will debut during primetime Wednesday, April 20 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

All of the "Green Tips" are available at fox.com/earthday and examples include:

From GLEE Tuesdays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT):

Chris Colfer - "Before you buy anything from your back-to-school list, decide what you really need. Shop for notebooks, binders, backpacks, planners and even clothing made of recycled and sustainable materials. But remember, the greenest thing you can purchase is what you already own."

Jessalyn Gilsig - "Did you know that your home is a bigger polluter of greenhouse gases than your car? Talk to your local utility company and find out how you can get a free energy audit to reduce your utility bill and curb global warming."

Jane Lynch - "A cleaner planet needs the brightest of minds. Put your gifts to use by encouraging legislators, utility companies, schools and employers to support green initiatives. Doing so will help curb pollution, create new jobs and change our future."

Jayma Mays - "The amount of solar energy that falls to the earth every day is equal to what the entire world consumes in 27 years. Learn more about installing solar panels for your home. It's an investment that keeps giving to all of us."

Kevin McHale - "How do you stop your cash from leaking away? Prevent your home from leaking so much energy. Speak to your local utility company about a free energy audit to save you money and combat global warming all at the same time."

Lea Michele - "In the course of a year, if everyone in the U.S. composted their kitchen scraps instead of sending them to the trash, the organic waste diverted from landfills would cover the entire city of San Francisco."

Cory Monteith - "Did you know that one kid's average school lunch generates 67 pounds of trash over a year? Plan a waste-free meal by reusing containers, buying in bulk, packing metal utensils and cloth napkins."

Matthew Morrison - "Unplug all your USB devices when they're not in use. Idle USB devices continue to draw amps of energy over time and contribute to wasteful energy consumption. This small adjustment can make a big difference."

Amber Riley - "Nowadays, some of America's favorite brands are focusing their efforts on creating earth-friendly products. Let them know that the choice is important to you by purchasing products that support a cleaner planet."

Mark Salling - "Write to your representatives in Congress and in the state legislature. Urge them to support actions that reduce carbon pollution, save energy and expand the use of renewable energy."

Jenna Ushkowitz - "Did you know that 40% of our energy consumption and carbon emissions come from our homes, offices and schools? There are simple steps you can take to reduce your energy use, save your money and grow our economy. Speak to your local utility company about a free energy audit today."

From HOUSE Mondays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT):

Omar Epps - "Next time you travel, consider a permanent tag for your luggage. If travelers in the U.S. stopped using paper luggage tags during their trips, 60 million sheets of paper could be saved per year."

Jesse Spencer - "Consumers will throw out about 400 million electronics this year. Sell, donate or recycle your old electronics rather than throwing it away. Check your area for drop-off locations."

Olivia Wilde - "Next time you do your shopping, consider products with less packaging. Buy in bulk, and you'll not only save money, but you'll also be reducing your carbon footprint with fewer trips to the store."

From AMERICAN IDOL Tuesdays (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) and Wednesdays (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed):

Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson - "Do you find yourself throwing out piles of leftover napkins from fast-food chains and restaurants? Try asking for less when you have a chance or store leftover napkins in your car for those unexpected messes. And don't forget to always recycle."

Ellen DeGeneres - "Did you know that oceans regulate the climate, generate oxygen and are home to some of the most fascinating creatures on earth? I do. 'Cause I'm smart. But our oceans are being threatened by climate change, pollution and unsustainable fishing practices. There is good news though. You can help by using less plastic and creating less waste. That way, it won't end up in our oceans."

AMERICAN IDOL finalists also provided "Green Tips" that are available on www.americanidol.com.

From FAMILY GUY Sundays (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT):

Seth MacFarlane as Peter Griffin - "A cleaner planet needs the brightest of minds. Put your gifts to use by encouraging legislators, utility companies, schools and employers (six of those words I don't know) to support green initiatives. Doing so will help curb pollution, create new jobs and change our future."

From BONES Thursdays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT):

Michaela Conlin - "Next time you're shipping something fragile, consider using shredded paper instead of packing paper. When packed densely, your shredded paper will protect your items as effectively as foam and bubble wrap."

John Francis Daley - "Try biking, walking, bussing or carpooling to work whenever possible. Biking to work not only keeps you in good shape, but it also cuts down your daily carbon footprint. Use a basket or a carrier rack to help carry your belongings."

Tamara Taylor - "Moving your heater's thermostat down two degrees in winter and up two degrees in summer saves over 2,000 pounds of CO2 emissions, which is over $100 on your annual energy bills."

From FRINGE Thursdays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT):

Lance Reddick - "A cleaner planet needs the brightest of minds. Put your gifts to use by encouraging legislators, utility companies, employers and manufacturers to support green initiatives. Doing so will help curb pollution, create new jobs and change our future."

From LIE TO ME Returns Monday, June 7 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT):

Brendan Hines - "When you travel with others, you increase your fuel efficiency. Find out about ride sharing and carpool opportunities in your area."

Mekhi Phifer - "How can you put more money back into your wallet and help others too? Talk to your local utility company about how you can get a free energy audit. Reduce your energy use. Save money. Create jobs."

Monica Raymund - "If just 10 percent of U.S. households attached shut-off nozzles to their outdoor hoses, we'd save enough water to fill over 128,000 bathtubs every day."

Kelli Williams - "Consider using reusable grocery totes for your shopping needs or recycle your plastic grocery bags by putting them to use. You can even use a left-over tissue box to store them in."

To raise awareness and engage employees even further, FOX will host its annual Earth Day Fair today, Friday, April 16, on the Fox Studios lot for News Corporation employees and guests. Approximately 50 vendors that provide environmentally friendly products and services will be on-site to share their goods and services with the employees. Last year, the event was a great success with more than 3,700 attendees. Additionally, as part of a eco-friendly partnership, FOX talent and employees will team up with the Los Angeles Unified School District and Castle Heights Elementary on Earth Day to refurbish, build and plant new gardens on campus.
