SANDRA BROWN'S SMOKE SCREEN (LMN, New!)/ON STRIKE FOR THE HOLIDAYS (Lifetime, New!) - Stanley M. Brooks has reportedly sold his interest in two projects - Lifetime's "On Strike for the Holidays" and LMN's "Sandra Brown's Smoke Screen" - as part of his efforts to get out of his financial troubles. The telefilm guru recently disclosed he's in debt to the tune of $700,000 as the result of Axium Payroll Services's bankruptcy in 2008. Hollywood guilds AFTRA, DGA and the WGA West have subsequently placed him and his company Once Upon a Time Films on their do not work lists over unpaid salaries or residual payments. Jaime Pressly and Currie Graham co-star in "Smoke Screen," which is currently in production with Gary Yates directing from a script by Karen Stillman. Seven24 Films and Smoke Screen Productions are now the sole producers of the project, to be distributed by Sony Pictures Television. "Holidays," about "women in a small town who strike just before Christmas to teach their ungrateful husbands a lesson," is in the script stage with Robert Iscove attached to direct from a script by Jim Head.
UNTITLED JAMES FREY PROJECT (HBO, New!) - Author James Frey is developing a new drama at the pay channel about the porn business that will use actors and adult performers. Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson ("Entourage") are also executive producing the hour, which would "focus on a giant video company under siege from Internet competitors and a girl from the Midwest whose boyfriend convinces her to move to Los Angeles to become a star."
