Glee Triumphs as Premiere Week's Top-Rated Show

GLEE TRIUMPHS AS PREMIERE WEEK'S TOP-RATED SHOW

In one of the most competitive broadcast television premiere weeks, GLEE emerged as television's top-rated series among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 last week, despite its move to a new 8p time slot. Additionally, FOX saw solid premieres for its new Tuesday comedies RAISING HOPE and RUNNING WILDE as well as returning favorites HOUSE, HELL'S KITCHEN, BONES, FRINGE and its Sunday Animation Domination lineup.

FOX premiere week highlights include:

· HOUSE returned on Monday with a 4.2/11 and was the highest rated drama of the night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34

· HOUSE outperformed the season and series debuts of ABC's Castle, CBS' Hawaii Five-O and NBC's Chuck, The Event and Chase.

· HOUSE ranked No. 1 in its hour among Adults 18-34 and all key male demos.

· GLEE anchored FOX's new Tuesday night comedy block and led into new comedies RAISING HOPE and RUNNING WILDE. FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens and most male and female demos.

· The season two premiere of GLEE posted a 5.6/16, its second highest rating ever among Adults 18-49 and its highest rating ever among Adults 18-34 (6.5/20).

· GLEE's premiere substantially outperformed last season's premiere on 9/9/09 by +60% among Adults 18-49, +76% among Adults 18-34, +110% among Teens and +67% in Total Viewers

· The premiere of GLEE was FOX's highest rated Fall live-action comedy premiere in nine years among Adults 18-49 (since 11/14/01, Bernie Mac) and Total Viewers (since 11/11/01, Malcolm in the Middle).

· GLEE's adult demo rating was the highest for a live-action comedy in the 8-9pm hour on any network since the night of the Everybody Loves Raymond finale in May 2005.

· New comedy RAISING HOPE was FOX's highest rated half-hour live-action comedy series premiere in three years among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers and in three and a half years among Adults 18-34.

· The series debut of comedy RUNNING WILDE posted a 2.4/6 among Adults 18-49 and was on par with last season's So You Think You Can Dance season premiere in the time period (2.4/6 on 9/29/09).

· On Wednesday, the two-hour season premiere of HELL'S KITCHEN posted a 2.9/8 from among Adults 18-49, giving FOX a second-place finish for the night among Adults 18-49 and a nightly win among Adults 18-34 and Teens.

· The eighth season premiere of HELL'S KITCHEN retained 100% of its Adults 18-49 premiere rating this past summer (2.9, 6/1/10) and gained +6% in Total Viewers (6.6 vs. 6.2 Mil.)

· Despite airing against all original premiere competition, HELL'S KITCHEN showed momentum, growing in the 9p versus 8p hour by +19% among Adults 18-49, +12% among Adults 18-34 and +20% in Total Viewers.

· FOX's Thursday dramas BONES and FRINGE delivered solid season debuts, with both holding steadily in line with their previous season averages.

· The season premiere of BONES posted a 2.7/8 among Adults 18-49. Although down from last year's season debut which was a week before premiere week against less original competition (-13%), BONES was on par with its comparable telecast on 9/24/09 (2.8/8) and up +4% compared to its 09/10 season average last year (2.6/8) among Adults 18-49.

· At 9p the season premiere of FRINGE posted a 2.1/6 and like its lead-in BONES, was down from last year's season debut which was a week before premiere week against less original competition (-30%). However, FRINGE was up +5% compared to its May finale (2.0/6 on 5/20/10) and on par with both its comparable telecast on 9/24/09 (2.3/6) and its 09/10 season average (2.2/6).

· On Sunday, FOX's Animation Domination favorites premiered to solid ratings. In fact, the FAMILY GUY one-hour season premiere was the highest-rated entertainment program of the night

· THE SIMPSONS season premiere posted a 3.7/10 among Adults 18-49 and was up +16% from its average last season (3.2/8).

· The premiere of THE CLEVELAND SHOW followed with a 3.1/8 among Adults 18-49, up +7% from its 09/10 season average (2.9/7).

· The one-hour season premiere of FAMILY GUY at 9p posted a 4.5/11 among Adults 18-49 and showed a +29% increase compared to last season's average (3.5/9).

The season premiere of GLEE posted a 5.6/16, its second highest rating ever in Adults 18-49 and it posted its highest rating ever in Adults 18-34 (6.5/20).

GLEE's premiere substantially outperformed last season's premiere on 9/9/09 by +60% among Adults 18-49 (5.6/16 vs. 3.5/9), +76% among Adults 18-34 (6.5/20 vs. 3.7/11), +110% among Teens (4.4/16 vs. 2.1/8) and +67% in Total Viewers (12.5 vs. 7.5 Mil).

GLEE won its 8p hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens, Women 18-49/18-34/25-54 (tie) and Men 18-49/18-34 and was the highest rated program of the night in these same demos (excluding Women 25-54).

GLEE not only significantly out-rated its season average last year (+51% in Adults 18-49, vs. 3.7/10 and +47% in Total Viewers, vs. 8.5 Mil), but also outperformed its high-rated average including only telecasts with an American Idol lead-in (+10% in Adults 18-49, vs. 5.1/13 and +3% in Total Viewers, vs. 12.1 Mil.)

At 9p the series debut of comedy RAISING HOPE posted a 3.1/8 among Adults 18-49 and outperformed last season's So You Think You Can Dance season premiere in the time period by +24% (vs. 2.5/7 on 9/29/09).

RAISING HOPE was FOX's highest rated half-hour live-action comedy series premiere in three years among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers (since 9/19/07, Back to You) and in three and a half years among Adults 18-34 (since 3/4/07, The Winner).

RAISING HOPE ranked No. 3 in its 9p half hour among Adults 18-49 (tie) and won the half hour among Adults 18-34 and Teens.

The series debut of comedy RUNNING WILDE posted a 2.4/6 among Adults 18-49 and is on par with last season's So You Think You Can Dance season premiere in the time period (2.4/6 on 9/29/09). RUNNING WILDE ranked No. 4 in the 9:30p half hour among Adults 18-49, No. 3 in Adults 18-34 and No. 2 in Men 18-34 (tie).

FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens, Women 18-49/18-34 and Men 18-49 (tie)/18-34. FOX outperformed its nearest competitor for the night (CBS) by +20% among Adults 18-49 (4.2/11 vs. 3.5/10), +104% among Adults 18-34 (4.7/14 vs. 2.3/7) and +88% in Teens (3.0/11 vs. 1.6/6).

The season premiere of HELL'S KITCHEN posted a 2.9/8 from 8-10p among Adults 18-49, giving FOX a No. 2 rank for the night among Adults 18-49, while it won the night in Adults 18-34 and Teens.
