Emmy(R)- and Peabody-Winning HBO Drama Series "In Treatment" Kicks off Third Season, Oct. 25, Debuting Episodes Monday and Tuesday

EMMY(R)- AND PEABODY-WINNING HBO DRAMA SERIES IN TREATMENT KICKS OFF THIRD SEASON OCT. 25, DEBUTING EPISODES MONDAY AND TUESDAY; GOLDEN GLOBE WINNER GABRIEL BYRNE RETURNS, JOINED BY NEW CAST MEMBERS DANE DEHAAN, IRRFAN KHAN, AMY RYAN AND DEBRA WINGER

As Dr. Paul Weston continues to struggle with the aftermath of his divorce, he faces new emotional and physical challenges - including hand tremors that he fears might be the onset of Parkinson's Disease, which killed his father. Meanwhile, he takes on three challenging new patients and turns to a new therapist of his own.

HBO's Emmy(R)- and Peabody Award-winning half-hour drama series IN TREATMENT kicks off its third season this October, with two new half-hour episodes debuting back-to-back on MONDAY, OCT. 25 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), and two more new half-hour episodes debuting back-to-back on TUESDAY, OCT. 26 (9:00-10:00 p.m.), followed by other new episodes debuting at the same time on subsequent Mondays and Tuesdays. Gabriel Byrne (Emmy(R) nominee and Golden Globe winner for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama) returns as Dr. Paul Weston, joined by new cast members Dane DeHaan (Obie winner for "The Aliens"), Irrfan Khan ("Slumdog Millionaire"), Amy Ryan (HBO's "The Wire"; Oscar(R) nominee for "Gone Baby Gone") and Debra Winger (Oscar(R) nominee for "An Officer and a Gentleman," "Shadowlands" and "Terms of Endearment").

In the third season of IN TREATMENT, Dr. Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne) continues his therapy practice out of the living room of his Brooklyn brownstone. Among his patients are: Frances (Debra Winger) an aging stage and screen star who has been "blanking out" during rehearsals for a major Broadway role; Sunil (Irrfan Khan), a recent widower and new immigrant from Calcutta, now living with his son's family in Brooklyn and struggling with life in America; and Jesse (Dane DeHaan), a gay, adopted 16-year-old who was recently contacted by his birth mother. Each Friday, Paul visits Adele (Amy Ryan), his new therapist.

Executive producers Anya Epstein (HBO's "Tell Me You Love Me") and Dan Futterman (Oscar(R)-nominee for "Capote") conceived entirely original and uniquely American storylines for the third season, a first for the series. The previous two seasons of IN TREATMENT were adapted from the scripts for the Israeli version of the show that inspired the HBO series.

Accompanied by his son Arun (Samrat Chakrabarti) and daughter-in-law Julia (Sonya Walger), Sunil (Irrfan Khan), a retired math professor and recent immigrant from Calcutta, reluctantly visits Paul (Gabriel Byrne). He is pushed to discuss the death of his wife six months earlier, his subsequent displacement to the U.S., and the tensions he's experienced living with his son's family, particularly his attractive yet unwelcoming daughter-in-law.

Frances (Debra Winger), a well-known stage and screen actress whose sister was treated by Paul 18 years earlier, begins therapy to discover why she is "blanking out" during rehearsals for a major Broadway revival. Paul forces her to confront the fact that her sister now has terminal breast cancer - and the implications this might have for her own health.

Jesse (Dane DeHaan), a gay 16-year-old high-school student, has been seeing Paul after being caught peddling prescription drugs to classmates. He talks about his troubling "pattern of promiscuity," his unsettled family life with his adoptive parents, and a recent alarming voicemail.

She compels Paul to confront deep-rooted fears about his health, divorce, patients and all-encompassing relationship with former therapist Gina Toll.

The second season of IN TREATMENT inspired resounding critical praise, with the New York Times hailing the show for "powerful acting and well-wrought dialogue," while the Los Angeles Times said the "well-drawn and compelling performances are uniformly terrific." The Chicago Sun-Times called the series "fascinating" and Newsday termed it a "fine and absorbing show."

Earlier this year, IN TREATMENT received a Peabody Award. In addition to a Golden Globe for Gabriel Byrne, the first season of the show received two Emmys(R), for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Dianne Wiest) and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series (Glynn Turman).
