LIFE UNEXPECTED (The CW) - Creator Liz Tigelaar has inked a two-year, seven-figure overall deal with ABC Studios. The pact, which begins in June and has option for a third year, calls for the writer/producer to develop new series projects for the studio as well as potentially join one of its stable of existing series. Tigelaar was previously set up at CBS Television Studios, producer of "Life Unexpected."
UNTITLED J.B. SMOOVE PROJECT (FOX, New!) - J.B. Smoove ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") and Aaron Shure ("The Office") are set to team for a potential single-camera comedy at the network about "a husband and a father (Smoove) who has gotten divorced but, with the economy being as it is, can't afford to move out and instead moves into the family home's basement." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the half-hour, which is set up at Shawn Levy and Marty Adelstein's studio-based company 21 Laps/Adelstein banner. Smoove and Shure co-created the project with Shure, Levy, Adelstein and Becky Clements executive producing. Smoove, who has a talent holding deal with both the network and studio, will also serve as a producer.
UNTITLED WARREN LEIGHT PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Warren Leight ("Lights Out") is developing a drama at the network set in the area of medical ethics. He'll write and executive produce said hour for 20th Century Fox Television and studio-based Chernin Entertainment alongside Peter Chernin and Kathrine Pope. Author/law professor Lori Andrews and producer/activist Jon Shestack will also serve as consulting producers.
