MORE AS THIS STORY DEVELOPS (HBO) - Sam Waterston ("Law & Order") is the latest addition to the Aaron Sorkin-penned drama pilot, set behind the scenes at a cable news network. He'll play Charlie Skinner, president of the cable news division. Alison Pill, Emily Mortimer, Jeff Daniels and Olivia Munn co-star in the project, to be directed by Greg Mottola.
RINGER (The CW) - Producer Brillstein Entertainment Partners has inked a two-year overall deal with ABC Studios. The banner, which will continue to develop new series projects for the studio, was behind the CBS-turned-CW pilot this past development season as well as the ABC comedies "My Freakin' Family" and "Other People's Kids," which didn't move forward. In addition, longtime TV chief Peter Traugott is departing the company to form his own effort, reportedly at Universal Media Studios. He'll still receive an executive producer credit on the "Ringer" pilot and continue to consult on the series.
