THE DAMNED (Showtime, New!) - Feature writer/superhero guru David Hayter is looking to bring Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt's Oni Press comic book to the small screen. The drama revolves around Eddie, "a cursed man who is stuck in the middle of a turf war in modern-day Chicago where mobsters are demons [who] must play all the angles to keep the warring families at bay while trying to reclaim his soul." Closed on Mondays Entertainment, The Littlefield Co. and CBS Television Studios are co-producing the hour with Hayter, Eric Gitter and Warren Littlefield executive producing and Joe Nozemack and Andy Bourne serving as producers. GENERATION EX (ABC, New!) - Moe Jelline ("You Again") has scored a script commitment from the Alphabet for "a family comedy centering around second marriages and the co-parenting that comes with it." ABC Studios-based The Mark Gordon Company is behind the half-hour, which King will executive produce alongside Gordon and Andrea Shay. (Variety.com)
THE GILDED LILYS (ABC, New!) - K.J. Steinberg ("Gossip Girl") has snagged a script at the Alphabet for a potential drama "set in 1895 and revolves around the family who owns New York's first true luxury hotel, the staff who work there and the people who pass through." ABC Studios and Shondaland are behind the hour with the latter's Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers executive producing alongside Steinberg. (THR.com)
LITTLE IN COMMON (FOX) - Heather Graham ("Emily's Reasons Why Not") has joined the cast of the revamped comedy pilot, which follows three diverse middle-class families who become intertwined when their children play on youth sports teams together. She'll play Ellie, the mother of the Weller clan, a role played by Paula Marshall in the original pilot. Rob Corddry co-stars as her husband Dennis. Rob Thomas is behind the project, which is set up at Warner Bros. Television. (Deadline.com)
MODERN LOVE (Lifetime) - Eric Stoltz ("Caprica") has been tapped to star in the drama pilot, which "follows newspaper science editor Simon McElvane as he faces a deteriorating marriage, the ramifications of potentially starting over and balancing his relationship with his adopted 15-year-old daughter. Unexpectedly handed the job of editor of the newspaper's Modern Love column, Simon discovers he has a lot to learn about life and love. The show will weave in actual column stories, optioned from the New York Times, and will explore the state of our complicated and modern relationships." He'll play McElvane in the Sony Pictures Television-based hour, which comes from writer Jenny Bicks, director Alan Poul and executive producers Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein of BermanBraun. Originally developed as a single-camera comedy for HBO, the project was reconceived as an hour-long dramedy for Lifetime earlier this year. (Deadline.com)
OVER/UNDER (USA) - Giancarlo Esposito has joined the cast of the drama pilot, about "a day trader (Steven Pasquale) with a massive gambling problem is fired from his job six months after a bad trade costs his firm millions. Shut out of the job market, he and his beautiful, photographer wife (Caroline Dhavernas) retreat to a neighborhood on the cusp of gentrification. He finds an unlikely partner (Anthony Carrigan) and starts to turn his life around in an unexpected way." He'll play Oliver, "a dry-witted and sophisticated artist who once taught [Dhavernas's character] and who maintains a special fondness for his former student." Bronwen Hughes is directing the Fox Television Studios/Universal Cable Productions-based project from a script by Sheila Callaghan. (TVGuide.com)
STATUS UPDATE (ABC, New!) - Feature writers Keith Merryman and David Newman (the Justin Timberlake/Mila Kunis-led "Friends With Benefits") have booked a potential comedy at the network about "a woman who is re-entering the world of dating armed with the influences of new technology and the various opinions of her friends and family." The single-camera project is set up at ABC Studios and The Mark Gordon Company with Gordon and Andrea Shay executive producing and Merryman and Newman serving as co-executive producers. STEVIE TV (VH1, New!) - YouTube star Stevie Ryan is set to host a new half-hour weekly pop-culture show on the cable channel. Dan Levy and James Kirkland co-created the project, which will feature Ryan's satirical take on the pop-culture events of the previous week, alongside Ryan. 10 episodes have been ordered for a 2012 premiere. Brian Volk-Weiss, Michael Pelmont, Dan Levy, Stevie Ryan and Darren Belitsky are executive producing for New Wave Entertainment with Noah Pollack, Jill Holmes, Stacy Alexander and Jeff Olde overseeing for VH1. STUCK IN REVERSE (ABC, New!) - Scott King ("MadTV") has booked a potential comedy at the Alphabet about "a dad who has a near-death experience and wants to reconnect with his estranged adult children." The half-hour is set up at the ABC Studios-based The Mark Gordon Company with Gordon and Andrea Shay executive producing alongside King. (Variety.com)
TILDA (HBO) - Oscar-winner Diane Keaton ("Annie Hall") has inked a talent holding deal with the pay channel. The actress has been attached to a trio of projects at HBO over the years: an untitled comedy from her Blue Relief Productions in 2004, another untitled effort in 2009 from writer Marti Noxon and last year's "Tilda," which didn't move forward to series. UNTITLED ADAM F. GOLDBERG PROJECT (FOX, New!) - "Breaking In" co-creator Adam F. Goldberg has booked a new comedy at the network as part of a proposed revival of the short-lived series. The untitled project, billed as an autobiographical show about growing up in the 1980s with a highly screwed up but loving family, will likewise come from Sony Pictures Television and the studio-based Happy Madison. As for "Breaking In," a 13-episode second season is reportedly being finalized with the aforementioned newcomer receiving a script commitment plus a penalty attached should it not move forward to pilot. UNTITLED MICHAEL TOLKIN PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Feature writer Michael Tolkin ("Changing Lanes") has sold a potential drama to the Alphabet about "a complex female ADA in San Francisco who runs against her boss and becomes the new DA." The untitled hour comes from the ABC TV Studios-based Di Bonaventura Pictures Television with Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Dan McDermott executive produce alongside showrunner David Zabel. (Deadline.com)
