"JEOPARDY!," THE NATION'S #1 QUIZ SHOW, PREMIERES 28th SEASON SEPTEMBER 19

New Season to Feature Show's Most Popular Themed Competitions and Special Clues Delivered from Around the World

CULVER CITY, CALIF. (September 15, 2011) - Jeopardy!, the most honored quiz show in television history, begins its 28th season in syndication Monday, September 19. Winner of 29 Daytime Emmy Awards, including this year's award for Outstanding Game Show, Jeopardy! continues to be America's favorite quiz show(R) and returns with a compelling lineup of its most popular themed competitions and special clues taped on locations around the world.

Host Alex Trebek, who received this year's prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmys, is excited about the new season. "I anticipate it will be filled with many memorable moments. Jeopardy! continues to remain fresh every time because of new clues and a wide range of incredibly bright contestants," he said. "I look at it as the gold standard of television quiz shows."

In 2006, Jeopardy! began conducting online tryouts, which allowed viewers the opportunity to take the qualifying test from their very own computer at home or at the office. Online testing has been an enormous success, with nearly 1 million fans of all eligible age groups registering to take it. This season, online testing will be available for adults as well as college students, teens and kids aged 10-to-12. The test for Kids Week is scheduled for October 5. Interested parents can get more information and fill out registration forms at http://www.jeopardy.com/.

Some season 28 highlights will include:

· The Tournament of Champions, airing November 2-15, with Jeopardy!'s recent champions competing in the ultimate contest of the minds for the top prize of $250,000.

· College Championship, airing in February 2012, features 15 students from colleges across the country testing their smarts for the $100,000 grand prize.

· Teachers Tournament, introduced for the first time last season with a special greeting by President Barack Obama, will shine a national spotlight on 15 of the nation's outstanding K-12 educators.

· Other themed competitions will include the Teen Tournament, a perennial audience favorite, and Kids Week, featuring competitors between 10- to 12-years old.

Also returning this season is the Clue Crew with roving correspondents Sarah Whitcomb, Kelly Miyahara and Jimmy McGuire. Since 2001, the Clue Crew has traveled to all 7 continents, including 35 countries, allowing for some incredible adventures along the way. This season, the Clue Crew will expand its scope of clues delivered from some of the world's most exciting destinations. The team will also travel to a wide range of important U.S. landmarks and historical sites. Dedicated to education, the Clue Crew will continue to demonstrate and donate Classroom Jeopardy! to various communities across the country. Classroom Jeopardy! is an affordable electronic version of the quiz show, which can be tailored by educators to suit their specific curriculum, while bringing the familiar sights and sounds (buzzers and all!) of Jeopardy! directly into the classroom.

Jeopardy!, the winner of 29 Emmy awards since its debut in 1984, was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most awards won by a TV Game Show. The series is the #1-rated quiz show in syndication with nearly 9 million daily viewers. Jeopardy! is produced by Sony Pictures Television, a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company. It is distributed domestically by CBS Television Distribution and internationally by CBS Television International, both units of CBS Corp.
