DISCOVERY WANTS TO FIND "THE WORLD'S TOUGHEST TRUCKER"

High Octane New Competition Series Premiering Monday, February 13 at 10pm e/p

(Silver Spring, Md.) From transporting cattle through the desolate, sun baked roads of the Australian Outback to carrying fragile loads through the icy, treacherous Indian Himalayas, eight of the world's most experienced truck drivers go head to head in some of the harshest environments on earth in WORLD'S TOUGHEST TRUCKER premiering Monday, February 13 at 10pm e/p following the season premiere of AMERICAN CHOPPER on Discovery.

Each journey/challenge lasts three days and contestants must face unusual cargo, massive rigs, lethal roads and each other. Along the way, the weak will be eliminated for slow times and penalties. Ultimately, only one driver will walk away with $150,000 prize and the title: WORLD'S TOUGHEST TRUCKER.

"We are very excited by this hugely ambitious series. WORLD'S TOUGHEST TRUCKER will put drivers to the test delivering amazing real life stakes and drama for our viewers," said Nancy Daniels, Executive Vice President, Production and Development for Discovery Channel.

WORLD'S TOUGHEST TRUCKER contestants hail from around the world including the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, Australia and Sri Lanka. All the drivers come vastly experienced but, like athletes in specific sports, each driver brings a particular skill set to the competition. They also bring their share of personal quirks and trademarks. There's 'Ice Man' Derek Martin cool under pressure and used to the slick and steep roads of his native Canada; the wild and wily Alabaman - Rookie whose mouth can run faster than his rig; and the explosive Aussie loner Rodney Johnson, who always seems to find teamwork to be the toughest part of the assignment.

WORLD'S TOUGHEST TRUCKER begins Down Under as the truckers encounter river crossings, dust holes and dry creek beds in the parched region of northeastern Australia. In this first challenge, the teams won't allow anything to get in their way but will one pair live to regret stopping to help and rescue passengers in an overturned car?

WORLD'S TOUGHEST TRUCKER is produced for Discovery Channel by Dragonfly Productions and GroupM Entertainment. Sarah Swingler, Sanjay Singhal and Maria Baltazzi are executive producers. David Pritikin is executive producer for Discovery Channel.
