Every Case Tells a Story: 'Miracles of the ER' Unveils Gripping Trailer

Netflix today unveiled the official trailer and key art for Miracles of the ER, Taiwan's first emergency-room (ER) medical drama, premiering globally on November 12. Led by Wallace Huo and Cheryl Yang alongside Kent Tsai, Chan Tzu-hsuan and Payne Peng, the series follows a team of emergency physicians navigating life-or-death decisions while fighting to preserve the ideals that first drew them to medicine.

Reuniting the creative team behind Tears on Fire - director Isaac Li, writer-director Huang Ching-tsu and producer Jade Lee - the series explores the human stakes of emergency care, from medical disputes and hospital power struggles to the fragile trust that binds doctors, patients and families.

The trailer plunges three first-year residents into the relentless pace of the ER under the guidance of two seasoned physicians. Rookie Lin Geng-ming's (Kent Tsai) botched first intubation brings a flash of humor before tensions rise. Desperate families demand answers, resuscitation efforts fail, and grief spills into confrontation. Amid the chaos, the doctors confront a question no training can fully prepare them for: How do you keep caring when loss is part of the job?

The key art brings the five leads together around a patient's bedside, as senior physicians Chou Cheng-chun (Wallace Huo) and He Yu-hua (Cheryl Yang) guide first-year residents Lin (Kent Tsai), Tang Hsi (Chan Tzu-hsuan) and Chiang Tung-yen (Payne Peng) in making a critical diagnosis, with every second counting.

"Being a doctor, like being a person, means staying true to what first inspired you," said Huo, who plays veteran ER medical practitioner Chou Cheng-chun. "You have to keep reminding yourself why you chose medicine: to help people and save lives."

For Yang, senior physician He Yu-hua reveals her strength in moments of quiet vulnerability. "After years in the ER, staying calm becomes instinctive," she said. "What interested me was when that composure starts to crack and when she's hurting but still puts the work first."

Drawing on firsthand observations of ER shifts, the writers explored the delicate balance medical practitioners face between maintaining professional distance and becoming emotionally numb. The series portrays doctors as ordinary people shouldering extraordinary responsibility, with doubts, personal struggles and lives beyond the hospital.
