TERI HATCHER SIGNS DEAL WITH ABC FAMILY TO MAKE HER DIRECTORIAL DEBUT AND GUEST STAR ON THE ABC FAMILY ORIGINAL SERIES "JANE BY DESIGN"

Hatcher Guest Stars as Jane's Long-Lost Mother

Burbank, CA (April 30, 2012) - Golden Globe(C) winner and famous "Housewife" Teri Hatcher has signed a directing and recurring guest star role deal with ABC Family for the original series "Jane By Design." Hatcher will be playing Jane's (Erica Dasher) long-lost mother for four episodes to be filmed between mid-May and mid-June, and will make her appearance starting on the June 19th episode. She will make her directorial debut by directing an upcoming episode of "Jane By Design." "Jane By Design" returns with all-new episodes on Monday, June 5th at 9:00 - 10:00 PM ET/PT.

"We are beyond excited to have Teri join the cast of 'Jane By Design,' coming off of her incredible run on 'Desperate Housewives' and making ABC Family the home of her directorial debut" said Kate Juergens, EVP, Original Programming and Development, ABC Family. "Teri's talent will bring the perfect blend of depth, comedy and emotion to the greatly anticipated role of Jane's long-lost mother."

Hatcher said: "I'm thrilled for the opportunity to direct. So many of the crew and cast of 'Desperate Housewives' have been encouraging me to do this for a long time, from Vanessa Williams, James Denton, to the talented camera crew department and producers. Now that I have time, I'm excited to whole heartedly conquer new ventures. 'Jane By Design' is charming, with very funny performances. I look forward to working with new and old friends over there and helping them tell stories both in front and behind the camera."

"Jane By Design" follows Jane Quimby (Dasher), a quirky teen with an eclectic chic fashion sense, who lands a job at a hip fashion house when they mistake her for an adult. Torn between her love of fashion and the need to finish high school, Jane conceals her true age to assist the demanding, but talented creative director Gray Chandler Murray (Andie MacDowell). Jane quickly learns that working for a successful executive in the cutthroat world of fashion is not as glamorous as she once thought. But with help from her best friend, Billy Nutter (Nicholas Roux), Jane tries to keep up appearances as she toggles between two lives and guards her secret. Will Jane's ruse be a passing fad, or will she be able to fashion a career in the design business?

Teri Hatcher has wrapped her wildly successful eight-season long stint on ABC's hit series "Desperate Housewives" as single mother Susan Mayer. Her other credits include the television series "Lois and Clark" and feature films "The Big Picture," "Soapdish," "Spy Kids," "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "Coraline."

"Jane By Design" is executive-produced by Gavin Polone, April Blair and John Ziffren. The series stars Erica Dasher, David Rogers, Nicholas Roux, Rowly Dennis, India De Beaufort, Matthew Atkinson, and featuring Andie MacDowell.
