ABC Gives Third Season to "Happy Endings"

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC has given a third season order to its much-ballyhooed comedy "Happy Endings."
The pickup - confirmed via a network spokesperson - means all four series from the Alphabet's fall Wednesday lineup, which includes "The Middle," "Suburgatory" and "Modern Family," will return.
Among its ratings accomplishments: "Happy Endings" was the scripted leader in its time period for 17 consecutive original episodes (10/5/11-3/14/12, i.e. when it followed "Modern Family" originals) among adults 18-34 and women 18-34.
[UPDATED! 12:39 PM] Deadline.com indicates the show's pickup is for 22 episodes next season.
