JOIN THE 'BAMA BOYS ON THE ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME MINING FOR GOLD IN THE SOUTH AMERICAN JUNGLE

"BAMAZON"

New HISTORY Series Reveals How Far Some People Will Go In Pursuit Of A Second Chance

PREMIERES SUNDAY DECEMBER 9, 10PM ET/9C

New York, NY, December 5, 2012 - After the boys from 'Bama test their mettle against the Guyanese jungle, the Amazon will never be the same. It will become the Bamazon! HISTORY's new adventure series, BAMAZON, follows eight determined Alabama construction workers as they trek into the dark heart of South America, hoping to strike it rich as upstart gold miners. But it won't be easy. Men have come to this unforgiving part of the world for centuries searching for El Dorado and most have gone home empty-handed, if they've survived the experience at all! BAMAZON premieres on HISTORY on Sunday, December 9, 10pm ET/9C.

Some of the biggest undiscovered gold deposits in the world -- valued at well over $100 billion -- are believed to be in Guyana, South America. It's ready for the taking. But it's also hard to get to. This is untamed territory, with no roads, no infrastructure, and it's populated by deadly jaguars, vicious piranhas, malarial mosquitoes and 20-foot-long alligators. Setting up a mining operation here is pure folly. But the men of BAMAZON have nothing left to lose and everything to gain.

Tim Evans, the leader of this expedition, is a self-made millionaire who struck it rich in the construction business until the real-estate market went belly up in Alabama. Evans decided to bet his last million on the belief that he and his trusted construction-worker employees can recover the gold that's tantalizingly close yet so unattainable. His men -- a team of electricians, carpenters and big-rig operators -- have never mined for gold before. Most have never even been out of the country before. But they're highly motivated and very resourceful.

Their bold plan is to go into the jungle with tons of heavy equipment (a massive challenge given that the only "roads" are paved with mud and the rivers are peppered with impassable rapids and waterfalls) and to get out six weeks later with all the gold that dreams are made of. BAMAZON chronicles the daily highs and lows that the 'Bama Boys encounter on this grand adventure.

BAMAZON is produced for HISTORY by Red Line Films. Zachary G. Behr and Mary E. Donahue are Executive Producers for HISTORY. Executive Producers for Red Line Films are Al Szymanski, Peter Franchella, Aaron Rothman, Cherie Kloss and Lisa Bloch.
