He takes viewers to his hometown to break bread at his family dinner table. Derulo's Haitian-American family weighs in on the star as well and share details of his earliest performances, and why they knew early on that music would be an important part of his life. Then Derulo and his manager go back to the basketball court where the two met and forged a friendship that would turn out to be incredibly successful for both.

The road to fame was not easy but Derulo's work ethic and hustle started to get him noticed and eventually led to his becoming the first male artist to have his first two singles debut at #1. Then in January of 2012, Derulo was in a horrible accident that took him completely away from his dream and almost claimed his life.
