THE LEFTOVERS (HBO/Warner Bros.; W: Damon Lindelof & Tom Perrotta; D: Peter Berg) - Newcomer Margaret Qualley has been cast in the drama pilot, which "takes place after the Rapture happens but not quite like it's supposed to and centers on chief of police Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux)." She'll play his 16-year-old daughter Jill, "a former straight-A student feeling the gradual unwinding of the world around her." Amanda Warren, Ann Dowd, Carrie Coon, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler and Michael Gaston also star. (Deadline.com)
QUARRY (Cinemax; W: Graham Gordy & Michael D. Fuller; D: John Hillcoat) - Nikki Amuka-Bird ("Luther") has boarded the drama pilot, which "is set in the 1970s and centers on Marine sniper Quarry (Logan Marshall-Green) who, upon his return home from Vietnam in 1973, finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public." She'll play Ruth, "the wife of Quarry's friend, fellow former Marine Artie (yet to be cast)." Noah Taylor, Skipp Sudduth and Stellan Skarsgard also star. (Deadline.com)
THE STRAIN (FX/FX Productions; W: Chuck Hogan & Guillermo del Toro; D: Guillermo del Toro) - Jack Kesy is the latest to be cast in the drama pilot, a high concept thriller about the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City which is tasked with investigating a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. He'll play Gabriel Bolivar "who, in the vein of Iggy Pop - brooding, and charismatic - corrupted his stunning good looks with Goth makeup and his sublime music with industrial shrieks and created an international rock superstar... with an insatiable appetite for recreational sex and pharmaceuticals." Corey Stoll, John Hurt, Jonathan Hyde, Kevin Durand, Lauren Lee Smith, Mia Maestro, Miguel Gomez and Richard Sammel are also featured in the ensemble. (Deadline.com)
