E! BRINGS FANS AN INSIDE LOOK AT ONE OF THE FUNNIEST SHOWS ON TV, "MODERN FAMILY," SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 AT 9:00 PM ET/PT

Featuring Never-Before-Seen Footage, Hilarious Outtakes and New Interviews With the Show's Full Cast, Creators and Writers, E! Reveals The Secrets Behind The Hit Show's Creation and The Series' Ongoing Success

"It's just a miracle that we put together these ten people... it was just magic." - Steve Levitan (Co-Creator)

Los Angeles - August 20, 2013 - One of America's favorite Emmy Award-winning television comedies is getting the E! treatment in a new special just as the show's much-anticipated fifth season gets ready to premiere and the series begins its first-ever syndication run on USA. The entire cast sits down with E! to talk candidly about the show's beginnings, how they won their roles, their favorite moments, and what keeps them all working together in harmony. Show creators Steve Levitan and Chris Lloyd recall how the show's concept came about, the challenges they faced in the beginning, the salary dispute that, thankfully, was solved quickly and to everyone's satisfaction, and the joy of winning all those Emmys. Viewers will learn which character is actually played by a card-carrying member of Mensa, why baby Lily left the show and was replaced with an "older" actress, how the role of Cam came to Eric Stonestreet just in the nick of time, which cast member's first audition ever was for this show, who was the first choice to play Jay Dunphy, and more. Plus, E! cameras enter the show's sacred "Writer's Room," where the secrets to making great comedy week after week are divulged. Don't miss this revealing one-hour special that brings fans everywhere an intimate look at one of their favorite shows when "Modern Family" premieres Sunday, September 8th at 9:00pm ET/PT.

The show's creators take viewers through the entire process of developing this incredibly successful show, explaining how some very unusual and unorthodox home video footage helped sell the series to a reluctant network executive, exactly how the casting came together and what they think sets the show apart from anything else on television. E! goes one-on-one with each of the series stars too, as Ed O'Neill, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriquez share their favorite anecdotes and memories from the series' first four seasons, and why they feel like they are a very real family, both on and off the set. The cast members also reveal some very funny moments that never made it into the show, and even perform impressions of one another. Iconic scenes that are cast favorites provide video testament to one of the funniest comedy series ever.

Get the full story on America's love affair with this series in the E! Special "Modern Family" airing Sunday, September 8 at 9:00pm ET/PT. Then tune in for the fifth season premiere on ABC Wednesday, September 25 at 9PM ET/PT, and catch repeats when the show airs from the very beginning, on USA Tuesday, September 24th at 8:00pm ET/PT.
