ALLEGED (CBS, New!) - David Rambo and Pat Gilfillan are developing a potential drama at the Eye about "a defense attorney who takes on the most important case of his life: defending his own brother, a successful surgeon and father of two who is accused of murdering his wife." Said effort is set up at CBS Television Studios with Junction Entertainment's Jon Turteltaub and Karim Zreik also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
THE ASCENDANT (FOX, New!) - Drew Chapman has booked a potential drama at the network based on his upcoming first novel about Garrett Reilly, "a 26-year-old NYC bond trader and financial wunderkind who recognizes a huge U.S. Treasury bond selloff and an opportunity to become incredibly rich but stumbles upon something much larger - and scarier: the first attack in a covert war of unthinkable proportions." 20th Century Fox Television is producing. GONE FOR GOOD (NBC, New!) - Alexandra Cunningham ("Prime Suspect") has booked another new drama at the Peacock based on Harlan Coben's best-selling thriller of the same name. Film 44's Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey are also on board to executive produce the project, which tracks Will Klein, "whose endless search for his missing and allegedly murderous brother, Ken, is filled with so many twists and turns it leaves him doubting the actions of everybody he's ever loved." Universal Television is producing the project, which was once developed as an original movie at USA. (Deadline.com)
LITHIUM (FOX, New!) - Michael Horowitz ("Burn Notice") has sold a new drama to the network about "three friends who find their up-and-coming battery start-up threatened by a lack of lithium and decide to use unconventional techniques to solve their problem in Bolivia, leading them into even more trouble." Richard Shepard, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst will also serve as executive producers via their 20th Century Fox Television-based Olé Productions. (Deadline.com)
THE PERFECTIONISTS (The CW, New!) - Sara Shepard's latest book series - billed as "a murder mystery drama" - is being eyed as a new series at the netlet. Arika Lisanne Mittman ("Dexter") is penning the adaptation for Warner Bros. Television with Alloy Entertainment's Leslie Morgenstein and Cheryl Dolins also serving as executive producers. UNTITLED BRET MCKENZIE PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Bret McKenzie ("Flight of the Conchords") has set up an animated comedy at the network about "the exploits of a group of employees toiling away at an almost-obsolete NASA space center in Boulder, Colorado." He'll co-write the project, which has a script and presentation order, alongside Tony Gama-Lobo and Rebecca May (IFC's "Out There") for 20th Century Fox Television. (TVGuide.com)
UNTITLED MATTHEW MICHAEL CARNAHAN/STEVE MCQUEEN PROJECT (HBO, New!) - Director Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave) is set to team with writer Matthew Michael Carnahan (World War Z) for a new drama at the pay channel about "a young African-American man's experience entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems." They'll co-write the potential hour with McQueen attached to direct and executive produce alongside Russell Simmons, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman. (Deadline.com)
WORK MOM (ABC Family; W: Grant Levy & Dominik Rothbard; D: Ted Wass) - Lilah Richcreek and Doug Savant will round out of the cast of the comedy pilot, about Heather (Renee Olstead), who finally gets promoted at her digital marketing firm and winds up hiring her recently unemployed mother. Her vivacious mother, Eden (Emily Rutherfurd), mixes up the office in a way no one could have predicted. She'll play portray "the beautiful and aggressively confident Rihanna" while Savant will guest as Thomas, "a widower who operates with a brusque manner and a trademark scowl." Brandon Scott also stars. (THR.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Morris Chestnut have joined the cast of TNT's "Legends" as Antonio "Tony" Cimarro, "a quick-witted FBI Deep Cover Operative and a natural-born talent for assuming legends" (Deadline.com); Michael London's Groundswell Productions has inked a first-look deal with Fox 21 to develop series projects targeted for cable (Deadline.com); Scarlett Byrne has likewise joined the cast of "Falling Skies" as "a mysterious young woman with special powers and an unusual connection to the alien invaders" (Deadline.com); Juan Pablo di Pace is bound for "Dallas" as new regular Nicolas Treviño, "a powerful self-made billionaire businessman who comes across as a good, genuine guy, even though there are darker parts of his personality which he's hiding" (Deadline.com);
William Sadler, Andrew Dice Clay and Justin Kirk are among the latest faces set to turn up on "The Blacklist" (EW.com); Maya Rudolph and Glenn Howerton will lend their voices to "Family Guy" as "an avid runner who catches Brian's eye" and "the publisher of a children's book that Joe has been toiling on," respectively (EW.com); "Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz will guest on "Community" as "Greendale Community College's ultimate party animal" (TVLine.com); and Jordana Spiro will recur on "The Good Wife" as "a tough, funny and smart police detective who's not opposed to mixing business with pleasure" (TVLine.com).
