HOW I MET YOUR DAD (CBS/20th; W: Carter Bays, Craig Thomas & Emily Spivey; D: TBA) - The proposed spin-off of "How I Met Your Mother" has been given a pilot order by the network. It's not clear if the project will be set up via backdoor pilot of the parent series or an entirely separate pilot via the usual development process. In either case, "Dad" will tell the story from a female point of view with entirely new characters, the lone connection being the original gang's favorite hangout, MacLaren's Pub. (Deadline.com)
JEN (FX, New!) - "Chelsea Lately" mainstay Jen Kirkman is set to star in a potential comedy at the cable channel about "newly divorced Jen (Kirkman), a woman in her mid-30s who doesn't want kids and once always did things the way you were supposed to but is now following her gut." She'll likewise pen the Boston-set half-hour with Chelsea Handler, Tom Brunelle and Brad Wollack of Borderline Amazing Productions also serving as executive producers and Kara Baker of Avalon Management as a producer. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED SEAN JABLONSKI PROJECT (USA/UCP; W: Sean Jablonski; D: TBA) - Stephanie Szostak (Iron Man 3) and Blair Redford ("Switched at Birth") have both been cast in the drama pilot, about investment banker Neil Truman (Matt Passmore) and his wife, Grace (Szostak) "as they struggle to sift through their stagnant marriage, looking for the spark they once had. When Neil discovers that Grace has been seeing a debonaire male escort (Redford) his entire world is turned upside down." Jablonski and Russ Krasnoff of Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment are the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
