ESQUIRE NETWORK TOASTS 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF PROHIBITION'S REPEAL WITH "BEST BARS IN AMERICA" SPECIAL, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5 AT 9P E/P

-- Plus, happy hour extended with a BREW DOGS marathon starting at 2P--

LOS ANGELES - November 18, 2013 - Prohibition. When the outlawing of alcohol gave rise to mixed-gender speakeasies, roaring 20's jazz clubs and distilled spirits. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, but it at all came to an end when lawmakers passed the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution on December 5, 1933. Now, Esquire Network toasts the 80th anniversary of Prohibition's repeal on Thursday, December 5 at 9P E/P, with the all-new original special BEST BARS IN AMERICA, a celebration of the dark places where we find camaraderie, companionship and, if we're lucky, a generous bartender.

Produced by Magical Elves and executive producers Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, the one-hour special follows friends and comedians Jay Larson and Sean Patton as they drink their way through some of the bars featured in Esquire magazine's annual rundown of the best in the country.

From neighborhood dives to swanky bars, this happy hour includes stops in Chicago, Milwaukee and San Francisco. Bars on the itinerary include The Aviary in Chicago, super-chef Grant Achatz's exclusive Chicago cocktail lounge where every drink is a work of art; Holler House in Milwaukee, a legendary beer bar in a city known for its suds, that also includes the oldest bowling alley in the US; Smuggler's Cove in San Francisco, the nation's reigning Tiki Bar, which has the only current open bottle of the world's most expensive rum; and many more... until last call.

Leading up to the premiere of BEST BARS IN AMERICA is an afternoon marathon of popular original series BREW DOGS, from 2-9P E/P. In BREW DOGS, James Watt and Martin Dickie, owners of the UK's fastest-growing brewery, travel across America visiting different American beer towns, celebrating distinctive craft beers and creating their own locally-inspired drafts.
