INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY'S NEW SERIES "OBSESSION: DARK DESIRES" REVEALS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ALL-CONSUMING DESIRE HAS DEADLY CONSEQUENCES

(Silver Spring, MD) - When desire overtakes reason, the human mind can unleash deadly obsession. In Investigation Discovery's all-new series OBSESSION: DARK DESIRES, women share their emotional stories of survival against obsessive stalkers who would do anything to satisfy their all-consuming infatuation. In the beginning, a persistent suitor, unshakeable new friend, or nosy neighbor may seem harmless... until one wrong move causes them to snap, revealing their true selves and horrifying motivations. OBSESSION: DARK DESIRES provides a chilling look into the mechanics of an obsessive mind and the devastating impact of delusional fantasy. When boundaries are crossed, the lives of victim and stalker become tragically interlaced as dangerous compulsions replace rationality and leave the victim with nowhere to hide. With their safety and sanity at risk, victims fight to protect themselves and their families from an irrepressible torment. The 10-episode first season of OBSESSION: DARK DESIRES premieres Tuesday, January 14 at 10/9c only on Investigation Discovery.

"OBSESSION: DARK DESIRES reveals what happens when stalkers can't have what - or who - they want, and stop at nothing to make sure no one else can either," said Henry Schleiff, Group President of Investigation Discovery, Destination America, and Military Channel. "With its premiere during the 11th annual National Stalking Awareness Month, we hope that OBSESSION can help to elevate awareness of the important issue of stalking, which has become increasingly pervasive in our society today."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 6 million people are stalked every year in the United States. What's more, the majority of victims are stalked by someone they already know. As part of its Inspire a Difference public affairs initiative, Investigation Discovery has created a national PSA that will air during National Stalking Awareness Month in January in conjunction with OBSESSION: DARK DESIRES and the new season of STALKED: SOMEONE'S WATCHING. Launched in April 2013, Inspire a Difference weaves together ID's ongoing national awareness efforts around civil rights, wrongful convictions, and violence against women under one informative and inspiring banner designed to empower viewers to make an impact in their own communities.

Stalking is a serious crime and it often escalates. For more information about stalking and tips to stay safe, please visit The National Center for Victims of Crime: VictimsOfCrime.org.
