JERROD CARMICHAEL TO HEADLINE HIS FIRST STAND-UP COMEDY SPECIAL FOR HBO, TO BE TAPED NEXT MONTH, WITH SPIKE LEE DIRECTING, PRODUCED BY FUNNY OR DIE
LOS ANGELES, April 30, 2014 - Jerrod Carmichael will star in his first HBO stand-up comedy special, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. To be taped at The Comedy Store in Hollywood on May 7, the exclusive hour-long presentation will be produced for HBO by Funny Or Die and directed by Spike Lee. Scheduled to debut later this year, the special is the second recent collaboration with Funny Or Die, following the Sarah Silverman special, which debuted in Nov. 2013.
Carmichael's credits include the feature film "Neighbors" and the TV series "Comedy Bang! Bang!," "Lucas Bros Moving Co" and "The Goodwin Games."
The special is produced for HBO by Funny Or Die; executive producers, Anna Wenger, Betsy Koch and Jerrod Carmichael; director, Spike Lee.
