Four Popular Web Series Return with New Seasons: 'A Day in the Life,' 'Gear Guide,' 'Ghost Fit' and 'Host's Hometown'

CHEVY CHASE, MD (April 30, 2014) - TravelChannel.com has greenlit production on nine new original web series and renewed four of their popular web series for 2014. Both the new and returning web series feature Travel Channel's resident experts, in addition to new "in-the-know" guides, who will spotlight a diverse cross section of useful and fascinating information about people and places around the world. This announcement is being made in conjunction with parent company Scripps Networks Interactive's NewFront event in New York City today.

"TravelChannel.com is staffed with true travel experts and fantastic video producers that provide smart and entertaining web series about a wide variety of travel-related topics. The range of content mirrors the linear channel, and demonstrates the power and breadth of travel while also deepening audience engagement with our shows and talent," said Shannon O'Neill, President, Travel Channel. "We're especially proud that our digital space has been a successful incubator for fresh new talent like our first crossover talent Kinga Philipps. 'The Wild Side With Kinga Philipps' started online and recently premiered as a special on Travel Channel."

Greenlit Productions of New Series (brief descriptions, in alphabetical order):

"All American Sideshow" is a full-access pass to the world's strangest traveling sideshow. The web series goes behind the tent as the "World of Wonders Sideshow" kicks off the circus season with eye-catching headliners including sword-swallower Tommy, knife-thrower Spiff and "Diva of Danger" Sunshine. These daring performers share their unique take on travel while living in a tractor-trailer and entertaining the masses in towns across America. TravelChannel.com has greenlit seven webisodes, 3-4 minutes each.

"Fall Foliage" (wt) travels with host Teri Johnson to New York's Finger Lakes region for some serious leaf-peeping while the fall foliage colors are at their peak, providing an awe-inspiring backdrop to experience the area's best attractions. Johnson sails Lake Seneca, races around Watkins Glen International track and tours the Dr. Konstantin Frank vineyard - tasting Rkatsiteli wine, one of oldest grape varietals in the world. TravelChannel.com has greenlit 12 webisodes, 4-5 minutes each.

"Microbrew Madness" is hosted by four travel experts, each with a unique point-of-view: "Girls Gone Bayou" star Lori Griffis, Australian pro golfer Ewan Porter, and travel adventurers Olivia Speranza and Ryan Van Duzer. The web series takes viewers on a journey across America to discover the best craft breweries. The online fans will vote for their favorite brewery based on more than just the brews, but the whole craft brewery experience - pitting region against region, and brewery against brewery - to determine who brews the best in the country. TravelChannel.com has greenlit 16 webisodes, 4-6 minutes each.

"Next Travel Channel Star" is a four-round competition series judged by the experts at Travel Channel to find the next Network star. Participants include the individual, couple or group who can best share unique perspectives as they travel to destinations that are off-the-beaten-path. Travel Channel will throw some unexpected challenges at the contestants during their on-camera taping to demonstrate their hosting skills under pressure. Whether their expertise is in the culinary arts, hospitality, photography, family travel, adventure or another creative proficiency, the "Next Travel Channel Star" winner will showcase their unique talents when they host their own five-part series on the Network's digital platforms.

"Off Road Trippin': Texas" is the end result of putting a truck driver and a model in a small rental car for a five-day journey through the Lone Star State. Come along for the ride as TravelChannel.com's resident road warrior, BigCat Trucker, shows Marianela Pereyra, TravelChannel.com's beach expert, some of his favorite Texas detours. Discover what lies in-between some of Texas' most iconic cities. TravelChannel.com has greenlit five webisodes, 4-6 minutes each.

"The Perfect Shot" follows "Ghost Adventures" paranormal investigator Aaron Goodwin on his mission to learn the craft behind taking the perfect iconic shot. From the professional dSLR to the entry-level consumer camera to the ubiquitous smartphone, Goodwin uses different photography techniques, styles and a wide range of cameras to take viewers on a journey as they learn with him. TravelChannel.com has greenlit five webisodes, 4-5 minutes each.

"Top 10 Locals List" features adventure filmmaker Shane Reynolds as he provides insider tips on familiar destinations. From highlighting available activities on Crab Island (vs. hitting the beach) in Destin, Fla. to giving an insider's tour of Frenchman Street (vs. Bourbon Street) in New Orleans, Reynolds teaches viewers how to enjoy these iconic locations like a local. TravelChannel.com has greenlit six webisodes, 6-8 minutes each.

"Travel Fact or Fiction" answers the pressing questions every seasoned traveler needs to know. Are the Queen's Guards in London not allowed to smile? Are New York bagels really better because of the city's water? TravelChannel.com's "Travel 911" host Rob Pralgo debunks (or confirms) common travel myths. TravelChannel.com has greenlit 20 webisodes, 1-2 minutes each.

"Travel's Best" is the companion video to the web site's popular monthly travel lists. The web series includes "Travel's Best: All-Inclusive Resorts," "Travel's Best: Honeymoons" and "Travel's Best: Adventures." TravelChannel.com has greenlit 12 webisodes, 2-3 minutes each.
