SCIENCE CHANNEL'S "HOW IT'S MADE" EXPLORES THE FABRICATION OF NASCAR'S NEW GEN-6 RACE CAR

--An All-New Episode of HOW IT'S MADE World Premieres Thursday, June 5 at 9 PM ET/PT--

(Silver Spring, Md.) - Science Channel's fan favorite HOW IT'S MADE is teaming up with NASCAR, America's premier motorsports organization, to give viewers an inside look at how NASCAR's new Gen-6 race car bodies are made. On Thursday, June 5 at 9 PM ET/PT, HOW IT'S MADE visits Hendrick Motorsports in Concord, N.C. as the 11-time Sprint Cup Series champions build out a Chevrolet SS designed to compete at NASCAR's top level.

When NASCAR arrived in Daytona to kick off the 2013 season each Sprint Cup Series car sported an entirely different look from 2012. Manufacturer identity had returned to NASCAR, and was on display during the 2013 Daytona 500. The Gen-6 car put the "stock" back into stock car racing as each manufacturer featured unique body styles that resembled the cars being sold on its showroom floors. Gen-6, now in its second season, was an instant hit with fans and drivers. After 12 races in 2014, the Gen-6 car continues to provide close competition week in and week out.

For 12 seasons and more than 300 episodes viewers have flocked to Science Channel's HOW IT'S MADE to explore how many of the everyday objects or products we seldom stop to think about are made. From hockey pucks and hand saws to drill bits and frozen French fries, HOW IT'S MADE offers fans a first-hand look at how these deceptively simple objects are constructed. Thousands of humdrum items are put to good use on a daily basis, but it's easy to overlook how things like aluminum ladders, firefighter helmets, matches and engine blocks are constructed. HOW IT'S MADE visits dozens of assembly lines where raw materials become finished products right before the viewers' eyes. In each episode of the series, viewers will are amazed to see how many common items are manufactured in high-tech factories around the world. HOW IT'S MADE airs Thursday nights at 9 PM ET/PT.
