FAMILY BUSINESS, THE (NBC, New!) - Matt Wheeler has sold a new drama to the Peacock billed as "the birth of a young would-be Godfather, a la Michael Corleone." He'll write and co-executive produce for the CBS Television Studios-based The Dan Jinks Company with Jinks himself executive producing. (Deadline.com)
FIRST LADY (The CW, New!) - Jenni Ross is looking to import Sebastián Arrau's Chilean series "Primera Dama," which "chronicles one woman's rags-to-riches journey from illegal immigrant to the White House, where she battles injustice and her own sordid past which has come back to haunt her." Said effort is set up at the Warner Bros. Television-based Vandalia Films with Jennifer Garner and Tariq Jalil likewise executive producing and Juliana Janes producing. (Deadline.com)
SALEM ROGERS: MODEL OF THE YEAR 1998 (Amazon; W: Lindsey Stoddart; D: TBA) - Toks Olagundoye ("The Neighbors") has joined the cast of the comedy pilot, about a self-centered, arrogant former supermodel (Leslie Bibb) who is forced to leave rehab after 10 years and reunites with her long-suffering former assistant, now a self-help writer using her years with Salem as an inspiration." She'll play Hookah Cartwright, "a beautiful but evil model-turned agent who was Salem's adversary during their modeling days. Now she works at the same agency as Salem's former agent and is looking forward to watching Salem crash and burn again." Will Graham also serves as an executive producer. (THR.com)
UNTITLED JAMES WONG PROJECT (CBS, New!) - James Wong ("American Horror Story") has scored a put pilot commitment from the Eye for a new drama about "an angel who, after losing his wings, saves the life of a female police detective and together they try to uncover the mystery of why the angel is stranded as a mortal on Earth." 20th Century Fox Television-based Teakwood Lane Productions is behind the hour with the company's Howard Gordon and Hugh Fitzpatrick presumably executive producing alongside Wong.
