BLUNT TALK (Starz/MRC; W: Jonathan Ames; D: TBA) - Timm Sharp ("Enlightened") is the latest cast in the upcoming comedy, about Walter Blunt (Patrick Stewart), a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news. He'll play Jim, "the head writer for Blunt's show; wildly smart, combustible and deeply insecure; single but always on the make; has strange hobbies, passions and is a hoarder and isn't afraid to stand up to Walter but is prone to crumbling quickly." Dolly Wells, Jacki Weaver and Adrian Scarborough also star. (THR.com)
UNTITLED ANDREW HINDERAKER PROJECT (The CW, New!) - Playwright Andrew Hinderaker is set to pen a potential drama at the netlet billed as "a peek behind the curtain of Hollywood's hip-hop dance scene, centering on a top-flight back-up dancer who dreams of becoming a choreographer." John Wells and Andrew Stearn are executive producing the hour via their Warner Bros. Television John Wells Productions with Hinderaker as a co-executive producer and Kenny Wormald, upon whom the series is based, serving as consultant. (Deadline.com)
THE WALKING DEAD: COBALT (AMC/AMC Studios; W: Dave Erickson & Robert Kirkman; D: Adam Davidson) - Cliff Curtis ("Gang Related") has been tapped as the male lead of the proposed spin-off, about a male divorced teacher and a female guidance counselor trying to survive the same zombie apocalypse depicted on "The Walking Dead" but in a different location. He'll play the aforementioned teacher, "a good man who tries to do right by everyone in his life." Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey also star as the latter's children. (Deadline.com)
