DAME HELEN MIRREN TO WELCOME VIEWERS TO IFC's "DOCUMENTARY NOW!"

New Comedy Created by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader & Seth Meyers Premieres Thursday, August 20 at 10:00pm ET/PT

New York, NY - June 3, 2015 - This summer, IFC's newest original comedy series Documentary Now!will lovingly parody some of the world's best-known documentaries. DameHelen Mirren (The Queen, The Audience) serves as host of this six part series, lending the gravitas that documentaries of this caliber so rightly deserve. Starring Fred Armisen and Bill Hader, each episode is shot in a different style of documentary filmmaking, and honors some of the most important stories that didn't actually happen.

Paying homage to everyone from the Maysles to Errol Morris, topics range from guerilla-style filmmakers who vastly underestimate the danger in exposing a drug cartel to a soft rock doc about a Chicago band's rise to fame with their hit album "Catalina Breeze." Documentary Now! also showcases an intimate portrait of socialite mother-daughter feral animal hoarders and much more.

Documentary Now! premieres with the first of six half-hour episodes on Thursday, August 20 at 10:00pm ET/PT on IFC. Armisen, Hader and Seth Meyers are the creators, executive producers and writers of the series. Documentary Now! is produced by Broadway Video and executive produced by Lorne Michaels. It is also executive produced by Rhys Thomas and Broadway Video's Andrew Singer. SNL's Thomas and Alex Buono serve as the show's directors. John Mulaney (Mulaney, SNL) serves as consulting producer and Erik Kenward (SNL) is supervising producer.

Documentary Now! also has appearances by Jack Black (The D Train, Tenacious D), John Slattery (Mad Men, Wet Hot American Summer), iconic music manager Irving Azoff and SNL's Aidy Bryant, Mike O'Brien, Paula Pell, and Tim Robinson.
