SHOWTIME(R) PRESENTS A LIVE ELECTION SPECIAL PREMIERING ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8 AT 11 PM ET / 8 PM PT
NEW YORK - October 17, 2016 - In an unprecedented partnership between The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and SHOWTIME, the Emmy(R) and Peabody(R) Award-winning late night host Stephen Colbert will bring his special brand of political satire and social commentary to a live SHOWTIME election special. Stephen Colbert's Live Election Night Democracy's Series Finale: Who's Going To Clean Up This Shi*t? will air on Tuesday, November 8 at 11 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. PT. The announcement was made today by David Nevins, President and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc.
By bringing his unique comedic perspective to the anything-goes nature of premium cable, Colbert will be able to do things he's never been able to do in this campaign, such as directly quote a candidate without being bleeped. The special program will feature the much beloved and totally irreverent Colbert reacting in real-time to the election results as the state by state returns come in, making it the perfect election night destination for people who want to see all the latest news, without actually having to watch the news.
"It'll be all the political comedy you love from my CBS show, with all the swearing and nudity you love from SHOWTIME," said Colbert.
Colbert will also speak to an eclectic group of guests, who are prepared to give a complete electoral breakdown- and possibly a complete emotional breakdown as well.
Airing live from The Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City with a studio audience, the one-hour program will also feature remote segments and several surprise guests, and will reveal who won the presidency. Could it be you? Tune in!
While The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has broadcast live to critical and audience acclaim several times in the recent past for the conventions and the presidential and vice presidential debates, this special is unprecedented, as it is the first time the show has partnered with a cable network to produce a live event. The election night special is produced by the same team responsible for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Stephen Colbert, Chris Licht, Tom Purcell and Jon Stewart are the executive producers.
