AMERICAN HEROES CHANNEL PARTNERS WITH TIME INC.'S PEOPLE(R) TO PRESENT THE 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD IN MEMORY OF 9/11 HERO WELLES REMY CROWTHER

-- Nominations for This Year's Winner Are Now Being Accepted at AHCtv.com/redbandanna --

(Silver Spring, MD, May 9, 2017) - American Heroes Channel (AHC) announced today a new multi-platform partnership with People, America's most popular weekly magazine brand, to present the 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD. AHC and People kicked off the nationwide search for the winner of the 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD, given to the ultimate everyday hero who goes above and beyond to make a difference in the world. Created by AHC and the Crowther Charitable Trust in 2015, the RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD honors the selfless actions of Welles Remy Crowther, also known as "The Man in the Red Bandanna," who, according to survivor accounts, saved as many as 12 people following the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

"We are absolutely thrilled to partner with People to celebrate the extraordinary actions of ordinary people who selflessly rise to the occasion for the greater good," said Kevin Bennett, general manager and executive vice president, American Heroes Channel. "I am truly humbled to join People and the Crowther family in celebrating Welles's memory by presenting this year's RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD to a deserving hero."

"For more than 40 years, People has been celebrating heroes, and our Heroes Among Us series is one of our most popular franchises," said Jess Cagle, editor in chief, People. "We are proud to honor Welles Remy Crowther by partnering with AHC to celebrate the winner of the 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD."

As the official media partner for 2017, People will feature new and exclusive Red Bandanna content through a series of hero profiles, editorial features and digital videos leading up to the awards ceremony at the Red Bandanna Game to be held this fall at Welles's alma mater, Boston College. Nominations for this year's winner are being accepted now through July 4, 2017, at AHCtv.com/redbandanna.

The winner of the 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD will receive a $10,000 donation to the charity of his or her choice, as well as a trip for two to attend the annual primetime Red Bandanna Game at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA, on October 27, 2017, versus Florida State. In addition, this year's winner will be featured in People, as well as in an all-new, 60-minute Red Bandanna special by Time Inc. Productions premiering this fall on AHC.
