A5/QUALITYLAND (HBO, New!) - "Silicon Valley" co-creator Mike Judge has signed a two-year overall deal with HBO, a pact which includes production commitments for two new comedy series. First up: "Qualityland," based on Marc-Uwe Kling's novel of the same name, with Judge co-writing alongside Josh Lieb. The project, to be co-produced by Lionsgate Television, "is set in the very near future. It's everything we have now, and more so. It's the story of humanity's struggle against the tyranny of convenience. But funny." Also on tap is "A5," co-written by Judge and Etan Cohen, "centered on a bioengineer who discovers the gene that makes a person an asshole and attempts to answer the questions nagging at all of us: Why do assholes exist? Why have they come to dominate our culture? And can they be cured?" Michael Rotenberg of 3 Arts Entertainment also executive produces both projects. (Deadline.com)

BAKER AND THE BEAUTY, THE (ABC) - Michelle Veintimilla is the latest addition to the drama pilot, about the impossible Miami love story between a simple baker (Victor Rasuk) and an international superstar (Nathalie Kelley). She'll play Vanessa, an unspecified character. (Deadline.com)
COURTHOUSE (CBS) - J. Alex Brinson has scored a role on the legal drama pilot as Luke: "Wholesome, generous and hardworking, Luke is a bailiff by day and law student by night, determined to move up in the world by becoming a lawyer." (Deadline.com)
DEPUTY (FOX) - Siena Goines, Jasmine Kaur and Shane Paul McGhie have all snagged roles on the Stephen Dorff-led drama pilot. They'll play fellow deputies Rachel Quinn ("Practical, meticulous and a workaholic, this clever detective pieces together details overlooked by others, and does so quickly."); Breanna Bishop ("Smartly dressed and sarcastic, this "quietly badass" driver is in charge of newly appointed Sheriff Hollister's security detail."); and Joseph Blair ("Bright-eyed and buzz-cut, this whippet-slender young man is the son of Hollister's old partner."), respectively. EMERGENCE (NBC) - Donald Faison has signed onto the Allison Tolman-led drama pilot as Alex, "Jo's (Tollman) Jo's recently divorced husband and the father of their daughter." (Deadline.com)
FILTHY RICH (FOX) - David Denman and Olivia Macklin are the latest additions to the Southern gothic dramedy pilot. He'll play Reverend Paul Luke Thomas, "the beloved, popular, influential and ambitious minister at the Sunshine Network." And she's on board as Becky Monroe, "Eric Monroe's (Corey Cott) prim, snooty wife." (Deadline.com)
INTERROGATION (CBSAA) - Frank Whaley will recur on the newcomer as "a seasoned detective who allows his ambitious young partner (Peter Sarsgaard) to take the lead on a murder case." (Deadline.com)
JERRY O (Syndication, New!) - Jerry O'Connell is set to host a new syndicated talk show for Debmar-Mercury and Funny or Die, slated for a three-week test run beginning August 12. It will "feature a mix of celebrity interviews and specially produced comedy segments from the Funny Or Die team." No other auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
KATY KEENE (The CW) - Lucy Hale has been tapped for the title role on the "Riverdale" spin-off: "Bold, big-hearted and independent, Hale's Katy Keene is a twentysomething New Yorker who aspires to be a fashion designer. When she's not working as a personal shopper at a luxury department store, she's navigating friendship and dating in the big city." (Deadline.com)
MARVEL'S DAREDEVIL (Netflix) - Former showrunner Erik Oleson has signed a two-year overall deal with Amazon. (THR.com)
NANA (ABC) - Bill Bellamy has landed a role on the Katey Sagal-led comedy pilot as Burke, "Alex's enthusiastic co-worker. This firefighter isn't the brightest bulb, but he's a great pal and sounding board for Alex. He was so eager to rescue a cat in a tree and get a taste of some "real action" that he accidentally crashed into another engine at the scene." (Deadline.com)
PASTORIZED (ABC) - Alexis Fields is bound for the multi-camera comedy pilot, about a couple (Leslie Odom Jr., Kelly Jenrette) who together run a modern ministry and share an even more eclectic and chaotic home life with a combined four children, as Nikkina. (Deadline.com)
QUEEN OF THE SOUTH (USA) - Bailey Chase and David Andrews are both bound for the show's fourth season. The former will play Eddie Brucks, "a musician attempting to overcome his personal demons who crosses paths with Teresa." Andrews then portrays Judge Cecil Lafayette, "a member of one of the oldest blue blood families in Louisiana who may prove to be one of the most dangerous adversaries Teresa has ever encountered." STUMPTOWN (ABC) - Michael Ealy, Mark Webber and Adrian Martinez will all join Cobie Smulders in the drama pilot. Ealy will play Miles Hoffman, "a detective with the Portland Police Department who is looking for escaped convict Samuel Kane." Webber's Grey McConnell then is "Dex's best friend and has an unrequited crush on her. He's been renovating an old-fashioned brew pub into a modern-sleek mixology joint and has hired Dex's brother as his sole employee." And finally, Martinez will play Tookie. (Deadline.com)
TIME BANDITS (Apple) - Taika Waititi has signed on to co-write and direct the pilot for the company's potential small screen take on the Terry Gilliam film. Gilliam and Dan Halsted also serve as executive producers on the project, from Anonymous Content, Paramount Television and Media Rights Capital. (Deadline.com)
TRIANGLE (ABC) - Edwin Hodge and Mallory Jansen will both Mike Vogel in the high-concept drama pilot. Hodge will play Ulysses and Jansen will portray Grace. (Deadline.com)
UNDER THE BRIDGE (CBS) - Reggie Lee has joined the Jennifer Morrison-led drama pilot as Charlie, "the neurologist in the practice, and Michael and Caitlin's close friend since med school." (Deadline.com)
UNITED WE FALL (ABC) - Jason Michael Snow has joined the Jane Curtin-led comedy pilot as Gary, "Bill's super-cool, cosmopolitan, glamorous brother." (Deadline.com)
UNTIL THE WEDDING (ABC) - Michael David-Stahl, Trent Garrett, Liza Colon-Zayas, Juani Feliz, Vered Blonstein and Michael Benjamin Washington have all landed roles on the drama pilot, the story of how one couple's decision to get married can affect everyone in their lives. Stahl-David is Will, "Adrienne's ex and an incredible surgeon"; with Garrett as Nick; Colon-Zayas as Nancy, "Danny and Laura's mother"; Feliz as Isabel; Bronstein as Laura, "Danny's sister"; and Washington as Sam, "Miles' husband." UNTITLED JESSICA GAO PROJECT (ABC) - Holly Chou, Cindy Cheung, Stephen Park, Kelly Hu, Helen Hong, Ki Hong Lee, Ashley Park and John Gemberling are set as the principal cast members of the comedy pilot, about Janet Zhao (Chou), "a first generation Chinese-American woman who struggles to set healthy boundaries with her crazy, exhausting family. When her wealthy grandmother dies and names Janet the sole inheritor, she suddenly finds herself the unwilling new matriarch of the family she's spent her life trying to keep at arm's length." Cheung then is Kathy, Park plays Robert, Hu portrays Auntie Amy, Hong is Auntie Linda, Lee plays Franklin, Park is Winnie, and Gemberling portrays Gene. (Deadline.com)
WRIGHT (ABC) - Joy Bryant is the latest addition to the Nicholas Pinnock-led drama pilot as Marie, "Aaron's ex-wife. She is intelligent, Fiercely protective of her 17-year-old daughter Jasmine and carries the heavy burden of still loving the man she's divorced. Marie is in an impossible situation, believing that Aaron never will get out of prison and yet having to try to move on with life." (Deadline.com)
