BET+ ANNOUNCES PREMIERE OF FIRST ORIGINAL STAND-UP SPECIAL "PREACHER LAWSON: GET TO KNOW ME" NOW STREAMING ON BET+

America's Got Talent Top 10 Finalist Debuts Full-Length Comedy Special with the producers behind Ali Wong's Baby Cobra and Tiffany Haddish's She Ready: From The Hood To Hollywood

NEW YORK, NY - NOVEMBER 21, 2019 --- TODAY, BET+, BET Networks' premiere SVOD service, launches its first original comedy special, "PREACHER LAWSON: GET TO KNOW ME." In "GET TO KNOW ME" Preacher offers a hilarious spin on his life experiences, including his run on American's Got Talent and his ongoing life struggles with kitten allergies, veganism and cold weather-induced ashiness. The hour-long special is now available exclusively through BET's new streaming service.

The first foray into the comedy special lane from BET+, "GET TO KNOW ME" will give audiences a glimpse into the life of Preacher, a fearlessly funny Floridian with a penchant for finding the humor in adversity, even when that means - according to him - managing his own frustrations toward a very talented 12-year-old ventriloquist.

Filmed at the renowned Vic Theatre in Chicago, "GET TO KNOW ME" is directed by Brian Volk-Weiss, and produced by Comedy Dynamics, A Nacelle Company, the team behind dozens of Grammy award-winning comedy programs, as well as platinum-level specials like Ali Wong's Baby Cobra and Tiffany Haddish's She Ready: From The Hood To Hollywood.

"At BET, we have a history of serving as a launching pad for some of the biggest comedic talent of our generation," says Devin Griffin, General Manager BET+. "Embarking on this journey with Preacher is a major milestone for the BET+ platform and the brand, so we're thrilled to welcome Preacher home to the BET+ family."

Preacher Lawson, the comedian, actor, singer, and self-proclaimed "professional black guy," gained notoriety as a top 10 finalist during Season 12 of America's Got Talent, as well as his return on AGT: Champions and Britain's Got Talent: Champions, after receiving the most votes from superfans.

"I'm honored that BET+ chose me for their first stand-up special. To create comedy with such an iconic brand lets me stand on the shoulders of giants, so I'm truly humbled to have 'GET TO KNOW ME' on BET+," said Lawson.
