HBO Max Picks Up Six-Part Documentary Series Inside the Life of Superstar Nicki Minaj

Project Produced by BRON Life and Directed by Emmy(R) Nominee Michael John Warren

LOS ANGELES - November 20, 2020 - Nicki Minaj, the most successful female rapper of all time, today announced her new docuseries coming to HBO Max.

Nicki personally broke the news on social media with this announcement video.

Each of the six half-hour episodes of this untitled project will explore Nicki's brilliantly creative mind and tell the story of her personal and professional journey. With complete honesty, Nicki will guide viewers through the most challenging and fulfilling times in her life, navigating highs, lows and misguided agendas in her stratospheric rise to fame and her journey to motherhood. Nicki's many achievements include 19 Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits, and 114 total entries on the Billboard Hot 100 - the record for "Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries Ever by a Female Artist."

"Nicki Minaj is a multi-faceted artist, businesswoman, and innovator as well as force to be reckoned with. It's a privilege to bring this project to HBO Max and provide our viewers with unprecedented access to her life," said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max.

The series is directed by six-time Emmy(R) nominee Michael John Warren, who made his directorial debut with Jay-Z's "Fade to Black." This marks Warren's third documentary with the iconic rap star. Executive Producers are Nicki Minaj, Michael John Warren and Aaron L. Gilbert, Brenda Gilbert and Cassandra Butcher for BRON Life, Irving Azoff, Tommy Bruce, in association with Creative Wealth Media. BRON Life, the non-scripted arm of BRON Studios, is focused on original docuseries, documentary films and short-form digital content centered around socially relevant themes and topics. The division also recently announced the civil justice series "Homicide or Justified" with famed civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump.

"Nicki Minaj is one of the most important and influential recording artists of all time; never to be duplicated - and many have tried. We are proud to support this living icon, as she bravely opens her home to the world," said BRON's Aaron L. Gilbert and Brenda Gilbert in a joint statement.

"I love that this series not only provides an all-access glimpse at one of the most iconic musicians of our generation; it also profiles the brave woman behind the artist, Onika. I believe all of us can learn a great deal from her remarkable professional and personal life. It's an honor to be entrusted with this dynamic story," said Director Michael John Warren.

Endeavor Content and BRON Releasing negotiated the deal with HBO Max.

About Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj has set the tone in music, fashion and beauty for more than a decade - making history and building her superstar personal brand along the way. In 2017, she achieved the record for the most career hits on the Billboard Hot 100 by any female artist ever, previously held by the legendary Aretha Franklin for four decades. Among those smashes, she has notched 114 entries total to date, two #1 hits, 59 top 40 Hot 100 hits (a record among female hip-hop acts), and 19 top 10 Hot 100 hits (another record among female hip-hop acts). Nicki holds the record as a songwriter for the "Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries Among Women in the 2010s." Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020, her landmark debut Pink Friday sold over 375,000 copies in its first week - the largest sales week for a female hip-hop artist since Lauryn Hill in 1998.

In addition to music, Minaj has made numerous TV and film appearances, including as a judge on "American Idol" along with film roles in 2014's "The Other Woman" alongside Kate Upton, Cameron Diaz, and Leslie Mann and 2016's "Barbershop: The Next Cut." She's also done voiceover for "Ice Age: Continental Drift." What's more, she's had high-profile deals with Fendi, Adidas, H&M, Diesel, Mercedes-Benz, Sprint and Pepsi, released a nail polish collection with OPI and was the face of MAC's Viva Glam campaign. Her branded lipstick, according to Racked, was the brand's highest-selling Viva Glam lipstick of all-time. Not to mention, she is a co-owner of TIDAL, and her BEATS 1 QUEEN radio show stands out as "the highest-rated show in Apple Music history."

After a decade since Pink Friday introduced her to the mainstream, 2020 was another big year for Nicki Minaj with two number ones on the Billboard Hot 100. These achievements further sealed her place in history among the most influential artists ever.
