AMERICAN GIGOLO (Showtime) - Wayne Brady will guest star in the film-turned-TV series pilot as Lorenzo, "the best friend, roommate and mentor of male escort Julian Kaye, played by series star Jon Bernthal." (Deadline.com)
CLARICE (CBS) - Douglas Smith will recur on the newcomer as Tyson Conway, a yet-to-be-revealed character. (Deadline.com)
DIGGSTOWN (FOX) - The network has acquired the first two seasons of the Canadian legal drama, about a star corporate lawyer (Vinessa Antoine) who, after her beloved aunt commits suicide following a malicious prosecution, decides to reconsider her priorities. Streamer BET+ bowed the show's freshman run in the U.S. in April while original broadcaster CBC has already renewed the series for a third season. It's not clear if BET+ will carry the second season prior to FOX's telecast. (Deadline.com)
DUGOUT MOMS (ABC, New!) - Jacque Edmonds Cofer has sold a single-camera comedy to the Alphabet inspired by the life of actress-writer Dawntavia Bullard about "a struggling but resilient single mom Who finds support and sisterhood from a group of Little League parents after she and her son move to an exclusive Atlanta suburb." Two Shakes Entertainment's Damon Wayans Jr. and Kameron Tarlow; and Picture It Productions' Lance Krall, Peter Siaggas and Peter Stathopoulos will also executive produce for CBS Studios. FACT OF A BODY, THE (HBO, New!) - Writer/director Jeremiah Zagar is spearheading a limited series at the pay channel based on Alex Marzano-Lesnevich's memoir, which "tells the story of a Ricky Langley, a pedophile and child murderer in Louisiana, who killed and likely molested a six-year-old boy in 1992, and Marzano-Lesnevich, who as a 25-year old intern at the law firm that defended Langley wanted Langley to die after watching his videotaped confession, despite being staunchly anti-death penalty." Public Record's Jeremy Yaches and Special Interests' Melissa Bernstein are also on board to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
FBI: MOST WANTED (CBS) - Jen Landon has been tapped to recur on the series as Sarah Allen, "Tali's (Yaya Gosselin) riding instructor." (Deadline.com)
FIRST LADY, THE (Showtime) - Kristine Froseth and Jayme Lawson have both scored roles on the Viola Davis/Michelle Pfeiffer-led Michelle Obama/Betty Ford series. Froseth will play "a young Ford as she trains as a dancer for Martha Graham in New York City, and into her 20s in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she worked for Herpolsheimer's Department Store and eventually married Gerald Ford." Lawson then will play Obama from ages 15-30: "The series begins with Obama as a young woman in Chicago and follows her as a Harvard undergraduate and Princeton Law School student, eventually marrying Barack Obama in 1992. Lawson is a series regular." (Variety.com)
GOOD SAM (CBS) - Michael Stahl-David has been cast in the Sophia Bush-led drama pilot, which has also confirmed Tamra Davis as director and executive producer. He'll play Caleb, "a cocky resident with half the experience but twice the confidence of the other residents, all who outrank him." (Deadline.com)
NANCY DREW/TOM SWIFT (The CW) - Tian Richards has been cast as Tom Swift in the show's planted-spinoff episode, which "follows the serialized adventures of its titular Black, gay, billionaire inventor (Richards) who is thrust into a world of sci-fi conspiracy and unexplained phenomena after the shocking disappearance of his father. Tom takes to the road on a quest to unravel the truth, leaving behind the comforts of his usual moneyed lifestyle, all while fighting to stay one step ahead of an Illuminati-scale group hell-bent on stopping him. Tom's missions will require his genius and flair for innovation guided by love, romance, friendship and the mysteries of the universe yet-unsolved." Producers are also developing a regular pilot script in addition to his "Nancy Drew" appearance. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED SERIAL PROJECT (HBO, New!) - Writer/director Shola Amoo is developing a small screen take on the podcast's third season at the network which "will follow a young cop and the man he's accused of beating, it illuminates the deeply flawed inner workings of a middle-American courthouse and how the system impacts every person it touches: cop, lawyer, and citizens accused of and victimized by crimes." Crime Story Media's Kary Antholi, a former HBO executive who originally developed the project, will executive produce alongside Amoo; The SpringHill Company's LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson and Eric Oberland; and Serial Productions' Sarah Koenig, Emmanuel Dzotsi and Alissa Shipp. (Deadline.com)
WILLOW (Disney+) - Tony Revolori is in negotiations to star in the film-turned-TV series. No details about his role were given, however the report speculates he'll play Boorman, "a thief and liar who joins the quest in exchange for getting out of prison." (Deadline.com)
