"AMERICAN SKIN" MAKES ITS STREAMING DEBUT ON BET+ NEXT WEEK

Nate Parker's award-winning film will be available to stream exclusively on BET+ starting April 15

New York, NY (April 8, 2021) - As the leading streaming service for the Black community, BET+ is proud to be the exclusive SVOD home for Nate Parker's AMERICAN SKIN. Beginning April 15, BET+ members will be able to watch the captivating film, in which Parker wrote, directed and stars in. The film comes to the BET+ platform at a critical time as racial justice remains at the forefront of global headlines and the national dialogue.

"While BET+ is a platform for promoting Black stories, it's also a place for championing Black culture and advocating for our community," said Devin Griffin, Executive Vice President and General Manager, BET+. "When we first learned of the film's ambitions, we knew it was something we had to be a part of. We were delighted to board the project early on as a production partner and are even more so now that our BET+ members can watch and experience this timely and poignant film."

"BET+ played a pivotal role in getting American Skin to market and we were thrilled to have a partner who understood the gravity and importance of bringing this story to life," said writer, director and activist Nate Parker. "My ambition with this film was to reflect the Black experience and to create a dialogue that adds context and accountability and allows us to push and change the narrative around race and justice in this country."

AMERICAN SKIN weaves a layered story in the tradition of Sidney Lumet's 12 Angry Men and Dog Day Afternoon, that follows a Black Iraqi War Vet, Lincoln Jefferson (Parker), who after being denied a fair trial following the shooting death of his teenage son by a white police officer, desperately seeks justice and accountability for his son's death.

In addition to Parker, AMERICAN SKIN stars Omari Hardwick, Beau Knapp, Theo Rossi, Shane Paul McGhie, Milauna Jackson, Vanessa Bell Calloway, and Sierra Capri. The film was produced by Mark Burg, Tarak Ben Ammar and Lukas Behnken with Zak Tanjeloff, Michael Novagratz, Bagrat Sargsyan, and Vaagn Sarkissian serving as Executive Producers.

AMERICAN SKIN comes to BET+ fresh off a successful PVOD run where the film became one of Vertical Entertainment's highest grossing titles. AMERICAN SKIN previously premiered at the 2019 Venice Film Festival where it won the Filming Italy Award for Best Film of the Sconfini Section. Since its debut, the film has also resonated with audiences across the globe, with a 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and has struck a chord with the Black community, counting celebrities and tastemakers like Lebron James, Diddy, E40 and David Oyelowo as fans.
