SUSPENSEFUL BRITISH MINISERIES "THE DROWNING" COMES TO U.S. AND CANADA IN EXCLUSIVE JOINT PREMIERE ON SUNDANCE NOW AND ACORN TV

All Four Episodes Available to Binge on Thursday, May 6 on Both Streaming Services

"A well-paced, twist-laden script and strong performances make The Drowning a compulsive watch" - The Evening Standard

Following its record-setting ratings for Channel 5 in the UK, The Drowning, a gripping, four-part identity thriller, makes an exclusive, joint U.S. and Canadian premiere on AMC Networks streaming services Sundance Now and Acorn TV on Thursday, May 6, with all episodes available to binge immediately. The Drowning follows Jodie Walsh (Jill Halfpenny, Humans, Liar) years after her four-year-old son, Tom, vanishes from a lakeside picnic and is presumed to have drowned. But his body was never found, and Jodie's always believed he was abducted. Nine years later she sees a boy on his way to school and is convinced it's her missing son. Suddenly the life she's painstakingly rebuilt is jeopardized as she embarks on a dangerous and morally dark journey to prove the boy really is the son she lost. Will she convince the police and her own family that the man now looking after the boy isn't his actual father, but his abductor? The Drowning also stars Rupert Penry-Jones (The Strain, Whitechapel) and Jonas Armstrong (Ripper Street).

The Drowning is written by Tim Dynevor (Emmerdale), Francesca Brill (Cuckoo, The Bait) and Luke Watson (Britannia, Ripper Street), directed by Carolina Giammetta (Vera) and is produced by Mary McCarthy. The executive producers are Noel Clarke (Bulletproof), Jason Maza (Bulletproof), Alexandra Stone and Catriona Mckenzie. It is created by Francesca Brill and Luke Watson.
