By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

BATWOMAN (The CW) - Nick Creegan has joined the cast of the upcoming season as Marquis Jet: "A sexy playboy who grew up in a lavish lifestyle, Marquis is too charming for his own good and wields his power with a ne'er do well attitude. He views life as one big joke and that sense of recklessness has a tendency to clash horribly with his no-nonsense mother Jada Jet. When he meets Ryan (Leslie), he sees in her a like-minded young go-getter who like him is just waiting for the right opportunity to make his mark on Gotham." (Deadline.com)
BREATHE (Netflix) - Florencia Lozano and Juan Pablo Espinosa will both recur on the upcoming survival drama as Liv's (Melissa Barrera) mother and father, respectively. (Deadline.com)
EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS (New!) - Sanjay Shah has been tapped to pen CBS Studios' proposed animated reboot of the Chris Rock series. Rock is set to return as narrator and executive produce. No network is currently attached. (Deadline.com)
MOONHAVEN (AMC) - Amara Karan is the latest to board the sci-fi drama as Indira Mare, "'Envoy of IO,' the vast and ever-present AI that keeps Moonhaven alive. Described as 'brilliant, compassionate and driven,' Indira has committed her life to ensuring the technology and culture of the moon will be brought back to save the Earth." (Variety.com)
POKÉMON LIVE-ACTION SERIES (Netflix, New!) - Joe Henderson is spearheading a Pokémon project for the streamer billed as "a live-action series akin to the 'Detective Pikachu' film starring Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith that was released in 2019." No other details or auspices were given. (Variety.com)
SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY, THE (Amazon) - The YA drama has cast Sean Kaufman as Steven, "Belly's snarky older brother who is becoming his own man"; Minnie Mills as Shayla, "Belly's fellow debutante"; Alfredo Narciso as Cleveland, "a commercially successful yet scruffy novelist spending the summer working on a new book"; Summer Madison as Nicole, "a pretty girl in a Red Sox cap and cut-offs who has eyes on the cute boys in town"; David Iacono as Cam, "a local boy with a skater look and a sweet personality"; Rain Spencer as Taylor, "a queen bee who is a bit shallow and 'boy crazy', terrifying to her enemies but fiercely loyal to her oldest friend, Belly"; and Tom Everett Scott as Adam Fisher, Susannah's husband, "a competitive, charismatic, workaholic finance guy, and thinks that money solves everything." (Deadline.com)
TERMINAL LIST, THE (Amazon) - Jai Courtney is the latest set to recur on the Chris Pratt-led drama as Steven Horn, "the billionaire kingpin behind Capstone Industries, an enormously successful global fund with its hand in everything from pharmaceuticals to fashion. But his bread and butter is capitalizing on the latest military trends and innovations. Horn's hubris and influence are equally threatening, and will put him squarely in the crosshairs of Navy SEAL James Reece (Pratt)." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED GRACE PARRA JANNEY PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Grace Parra Janney has sold a single-camera comedy to the Alphabet about "an upper-middle-class family handling grief, identity and a reevaluation of their roles following the death of the family's patriarch." The project, inspired by her own large Mexican-American family in Texas, is set up at 20th Television with Josh Bycel and UnbeliEVAble Entertainment's Eva Longoria and Ben Spector also on board to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED PATRICIA HEATON PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Emmy winner Patricia Heaton is attached to star in a multi-camera comedy at the network. No plot specifics were given about the project, which has a script-to-series commitment, other than it will be set in Nashville and ultimately produced there should it move forward. The search is underway for a writer. Heaton, David Hunt, Aaron Kaplan, Adam Griffin and Michael Lohmann are the executive producers for FourBoys Entertainment, Kapital Entertainment and FOX Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
WEDDING SEASON (Disney+) - Oliver Lyttelton's eight-part series has been further detailed as centering on Katie, "a beautiful bride who we meet on her wedding day surrounded by the dead bodies of her new husband and every member of his family. The police think Katie's lover Stefan did it. Stefan thinks Katie did it. Katie thinks her ex-husband did it. No one knows what the truth is." Dancing Ledge Productions and Jax Media are behind the project with Chris Carey, Laurence Bowen, Toby Bruce, Lilly Burns, Brooke Posche and Tony Hernandez also executive producing and George Kane directing.
