BALLAD OF RENEGADE NELL, THE (Disney+) - Sally Wainwright's eight-episode drama for Lookout Point has been formally detailed as follows: "When Nell Jackson is framed for murder, she's forced into a life of highway robbery. Aided by a plucky little spirit called Billy Blind, Nell realises that fate has put her on the wrong side of the law for a reason." (Deadline.com)
CULPRITS (Disney+) - Nathan Stewart-Jarrett is set to star in the eight-episode drama series: "A darkly funny, whip-smart series about the aftermath of a heist. The crew have gone their separate ways but someone is coming after them one by one." Stephen Garrett, J Blakeson and Morenike Williams are the featured auspices for Character 7. (Deadline.com)
DARK WINDS (AMC) - Jessica Matten has joined the cast of the psychological thriller as Bernadette Manuelito, "a Navajo police sergeant, she works closely with Leaphorn. Sharp as a tack, efficient, hard-working, perceptive, she's tough and nothing gets by her." (Deadline.com)
EXTRAORDINARY (Disney+) - Emma Moran's eight-episode comedy series for Sid Gentle Films has likewise been detailed as follows: "Meet Jen. She lives in a world where everyone has a superpower. Everyone except her. Which is just sodding great. This is a fresh, innovative comedy about being young and struggling to find your place in the world when all you'll ever be is 'ordinary.'" FIVE DAYS AT MEMORIAL (Apple TV+) - Joe Carroll is the latest addition to the limited series as Michael Arvin, "a business development executive tasked with finding life-saving resources for people in distress hundreds of miles from his own location." (Deadline.com)
GOOD DOCTOR, THE (ABC) - Rachel Bay Jones is slated to recur on the upcoming season in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com)
I LOVE THIS FOR YOU (Showtime) - Jenifer Lewis is set to star opposite Vanessa Bayer and Molly Shannon in the comedy series. She'll play Patricia, "the icy, enigmatic founder and CEO of a popular home shopping network." Cybill Shepherd was previously cast in said role for the pilot, but has since departed the project. JEOPARDY! (Syndication) - Mayim Bialik will once again guest host the series following the departure of Mike Richards. She'll tape three weeks of episodes when production resumes this week. Bialik was previously announced as host of the franchise's various primetime spin-off series. (Deadline.com)
MOST DANGEROUS GAME (Roku) - The streamer is moving forward with a second season of the former Quibi series. David CastaƱeda will topline said sophomore run as Victor Suero, "a down-on-his-luck fighter who will do anything to protect his sister. When he learns she's in trouble, he springs into action. To protect her, he agrees to participate in a deadly game. If he survives, he'll make a fortune. Out of love for his sister - he's determined to live." Christoph Waltz will return as Miles Sellers, "the CEO of The Tiro Fund - a front for a centuries old game in which hunters pay exorbitant fees for the privilege of hunting the most cunning and dangerous prey there is." Liam Hemsworth however will not return. Writer Nick Santora and director Phil Abraham will once again executive produce for CBS Studios alongside Gordon Gray and Silver Reel Pictures (Variety.com)
NAOMI (The CW) - DeMane Davis has signed a multi-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Television where she'll join the newcomer as a co-executive producer/in-house director. (Deadline.com)
NAUTILUS (Disney+, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a new drama based on Jules Verne's seminal novel "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." James Dormer is penning the project with Johanna Devereaux, Moonriver TV's Xavier Marchand, and Seven Stories' Anand Tucker also among the auspices. Filming is targeted for early 2022. It is detailed as follows: "The ten-part epic live-action series tells the never before told origin story of Verne's most iconic character, Captain Nemo, and his legendary submarine, The Nautilus." PEACE OF MIND WITH TARAJI (Facebook Watch) - The streaming service has renewed the Taraji P. Henson-hosted series for a second season due later this year. (Deadline.com)
SAVE OUR SQUAD (Disney+) - The David Beckham-led reality series is slated to complete six 35-minute episodes for Twenty Twenty and Studio 99. It is detailed as follows: "David Beckham mentors a struggling young grassroots football side, taking these young players, their coach, and their community on an uplifting, transformative journey of a lifetime." SHINING GIRLS (Apple TV+) - Amy Brenneman will recur on the Elisabeth Moss-led drama series as Rachel, "Kirby's (Moss) larger-than-life single mother." (Deadline.com)
WEDDING SEASON (Disney+) - Rosa Salazar has been tapped to star in the eight-episode drama: "A genre-busting escapist romance about two people who shouldn't be together, but who can't stay away from one another. The series follows Katie, a picture-perfect bride who we meet on her wedding day surrounded by the dead bodies of her new husband and every member of his family." Production begins later this month in Scotland, Manchester, London and Las Vegas. Chris Carey, Laurence Bowen, Toby Bruce, Lilly Burns and Tony Hernandez are the executive producers for Dancing Ledge Productions and Jax Media with Oliver Lyttelton writing and George Kane directing.
