BAD MONKEY (Apple TV+) - The Vince Vaughn-led drama has cast Michelle Monaghan as Bonnie, "a mysterious woman trapped in an abusive, loveless marriage"; Jodie Turner-Smith as Dragon Queen/Gracie, "she's both revered and feared on Andros as she practices Obeah alongside her contentious grandmother"; and Meredith Hagner as Eve, "she's questioned by Yancy about her dead husband and he feels she might know more than she's saying." Additionally, Marcos Siega will direct and executive produce the debut installment. (Deadline.com)
IDOL, THE (HBO) - The Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye/Lily-Rose Depp-led drama series has cast Juliebeth Gonzalez, Maya Eshet, Tyson Ritter, Kate Lyn Sheil, Liz Sierra and Finley Rose Slater in unspecified roles. Also starring are Suzanna Son, Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Steve Zissis, Troye Sivan, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Nico Hiraga and Anne Heche. (Deadline.com)
KENTUCKY BLAZE (NBC, New!) - Courtney Hoffman is developing a potential series for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming which "follows music manager, Davey Wagner, as she returns home to Ashland, Kentucky after her estranged father dies unexpectedly. There, she's forced to reconcile with the demons of her past, help revive her mother's washed up country music career, and start a family weed business in the process." HopeTown Entertainment's Tish Cyrus will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
LIFE & BETH (Hulu) - Laura Benanti will recur on the Amy Schumer-led comedy as Jane, "a struggling mother." (Variety.com)
UNTITLED GLARUM & JAMIN PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Sivert Glarum and Michael Jamin are spearheading a proposed animated series for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming described as "a modern re-imagining of The Beverly Hillbillies" and is "loosely inspired by the misadventures of the Cyrus family." Shadow Machine's Bill Schultz and HopeTown Entertainment's Tish Cyrus will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED HARJO & LEE PROJECT (FX, New!) - Sterlin Harjo and Jonathan Lee are set to team for a new limited series at the cable channel described as "a heist thriller centered around a Native woman."
