Development Update: Thursday, January 27
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

ADAM & EVA (NBC) - The network has given a pilot order to its long-in-the-works domestic take on the Dutch series "A'dam - E.V.A." Mike Daniels is behind the project, which "chronicles the epic love and lives of two complete strangers whose multiple run-ins begin to defy coincidence and lead both to believe in fate. This show breaks the mold by pairing a serialized, stand-up-and-cheer romantic comedy with the wildly diverse and often unexpected human stories of anyone who finds themselves six degrees from Adam and Eva." David Janollari, Rob Golenberg and Alon Aranya will executive produce alongside original series creators Robert Alberdingk Thijm and Norbert ter Hall for Universal Television, 6107 Productions, David Janollari Entertainment, Silver Lining Entertainment and Willy Waltz International. (Variety.com)
BLACK MONDAY/WORK IN PROGRESS (Showtime) - The pay channel has confirmed both comedy series have been canceled. The network said about the former: "Don Cheadle, Regina Hall, Andrew Rannells, Paul Scheer and Casey Wilson led a fantastic cast, and we are grateful to Jordan Cahan, David Caspe and all who worked on the show for three hilarious seasons." And the latter: "We are incredibly proud of the two seasons of WORK IN PROGRESS and were thrilled to spotlight the enormous talents of Abby McEnany, Lilly Wachowski and the entire cast and creative team. We look forward to having our subscribers continue to discover this special series on Showtime's streaming platforms for years to come." (Deadline.com)
CSI: VEGAS (CBS) - Co-star Mel Rodriguez, who plays Chief Medical Examiner Hugo Ramirez, will also not be returning for the show's second season. The news follows Jorja Fox confirming her exit on Tuesday. (TVLine.com)
MARRIED WITH FRIENDS (CBS, New!) - Blake Lee and Ben Lewis are attached to star in a proposed multi-camera comedy inspired by the real-life married couple, "an ensemble about a millennial friend group navigating life, friendships, and romantic relationships (or lack thereof) with Arthur and Bo - a gay, married couple, played by Lee and Lewis, - as the glue that holds them all together." Julia Meltzer is penning the project with Corinne Kingsbury executive producing for Eighty-Two Cents productions and CBS Studios. Lee, Lewis and Meltzer are co-executive producers. (Deadline.com)
MISSING, THE (Peacock) - Juliana Canfield is set to star opposite Jeff Wilbusch in the upcoming drama as Janine Harris, "a newly minted detective with the NYPD. Looking for a mentor, she begs to be partnered with Avraham, who prefers to work alone, and gets her wish." (Deadline.com)
ON THE DARKNET (Amazon, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a six-episode French series which "revolves around a mysterious website named Vrasesin which offers services from contract killers and turns out to be a scam created by Ben and Flo, two amateur hackers who live in a quiet fishing resort at Ponet-sur-Mer. But Ben and Flo's enterprise soon get them in trouble with Alkan, an Albanian criminal who is searching for a contract killer to assassinate the chief of a gang." Remy Four and Julien War are helming the project for Noor Sadar's White Lion Films. The cast includes Victor-Artus Solaro (aka Artus), Joséphine Draï, Théo Fernandez, Léon Plazol, Imer Kutllovci, Isabelle Candelier, Vincent Dessagnat and Arié Elmaleh. (Variety.com)
PEACEMAKER (HBO Max) - Creator James Gunn has indicated there's another "The Suicide Squad" TV series spin-off in the works, presumably at the streamer. "I can't say anything. It is connected to this universe, and I don't think it will be the same genre as Peacemaker, it won't be as much a comedy as Peacemaker, but it will be in the same universe," Gunn told the publication. No other details were given about the project, which is still in the early stages. (Deadline.com)
YOUNG SHELDON (CBS) - Ming-Na Wen will drop by the show's February 24 episode as Dr. Carol Lee, "director of experimental cosmology at East Texas Tech University, who will butt heads with 11-year old student Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage)." (TVInsider.com)
