DUMPED (Netflix, New!) - Writer Heather Flanders and director Liz Friedlander are set to team for a new single-camera comedy at the streamer "about a hopeless romantic and her best friends who become amateur detectives when they investigate her recent ex, only to fall down a rabbit hole of lies, deceit and danger." A writers' room is being opened for the project with Aaron Kaplan and Melanie Frankel of Kapital Entertainment and Robyn Meisinger of Anonymous Content also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
FARGO (FX) - Juno Temple, Jon Hamm and Jennifer Jason Leigh have signed on to star in the anthology's fifth installment: "Set in 2019, it answers the questions, when is a kidnapping not a kidnapping, and what if your wife isn't yours?" No details were given about their characters: Dot, Roy and Lorraine, respectively. (Deadline.com)
ICONS UNEARTHED: STAR WARS (Vice, New!) - The Nacelle Company will launch a six-part series on the cable channel billed as "deep dive into the Star Wars Universe. In Icons Unearthed: Star Wars Marcia Lucas, Oscar-winning film editor and ex-wife of George Lucas, sits down for her first-ever on-camera interview and provides unique insight into the rise of LucasFilm - including her 14-year marriage to and eventual divorce from George Lucas - the editing of the original Star Wars trilogy, the origin of the idea that Darth Vader would be Luke's father and if there were really originally plans for nine movies." Brian Volk-Weiss, Cisco Henson, Ian Roumain, Alyssa Michek and Ben Frost are the executive producers of the project, which launches Tuesday, July 12 at 10:00/9:00c. (Deadline.com)
IRRATIONAL, THE (NBC) - Travina Springer, Molly Kunz and Arash DeMaxi have all been cast in the Jesse L. Martin-led drama pilot. Springer will play Kylie, "a creative free spirit and Alec's younger sister, with whom he currently resides"; with Kunz as Phoebe, "a protege of Alec and conscientious graduate student pursuing her master's degree in psychology"; and DeMaxi as Owen, "a grad student of psychology with a playful sense of humor and natural curiosity." TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS (Hulu) - Kathryn Hahn is attached to star in the eight-episode adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's novel: "Tiny Beautiful Things is about a woman who reluctantly becomes Dear Sugar - an anonymous, revered advice columnist - when her own life is falling apart. Told in multiple timelines with astonishing intimacy, nerve and candor, she excavates the beauty, struggle and humor in her own life to show us that we are not beyond rescue, that it's our stories that will ultimately save us." Liz Tigelaar is behind the half-hour project, which was previously set up at HBO in 2015. Said trio will executive produce alongside Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Lauren Neustadter, Stacey Silverman and Jayme Lemons for ABC Signature and Hello Sunshine. (Deadline.com)
