1883: THE BASS REEVES STORY (Paramount+) - Taylor Sheridan will direct the first two installments of the six-part limited series starring David Oyelowo as the legendary Wild West lawman. Sheridan, Oyelowo, Jessica Oyelowo, David Permut, David Glasser, Ron Burkle and Bob Yari are the executive producers for MTV Entertainment Studios, Bosque Ranch Productions, Yoruba Saxon Productions and 101 Studios. CHALLENGE, THE (MTV) - Production is underway on the show's 38th season in Argentina with a 39th installment as on tap at the cable channel. T.J. Lavin is set to return as host for both seasons. (Variety.com)
CROWN, THE (Netflix) - Amir El-Masry has been cast as "the young Egyptian billionaire Mohamed al-Fayed, the former Harrods owner and father of Princess Diana's lover Dodi," in the show's upcoming fifth season. Salim Daw was previously cast as the older incarnation of Mohamed al-Fayed. (Variety.com)
GODFATHER OF HARLEM (Epix) - Jason Alan Carvell has been cast as Malcolm X in the upcoming third season of the series. He'll take over from Nigél Thatch, who portrayed the role during the first two seasons. (Deadline.com)
JOE PICKETT (Spectrum) - Keean Johnson has joined the cast of the show's second season as plays Luke Brueggeman, "Joe Pickett's new Game and Fish trainee. Luke is a wide-eyed, lovable screwup who often acts as Joe's comedic sidekick. Luke has a motormouth, an aversion to horses - and an unconventional method for corralling drunk elk." Additionally, Vivienne Guynn's April Keeley, Chad Rook's Deputy McLanahan and Aadila Dosani's Cricket have been upped to regulars; while Patrick Gallagher, Alex Breaux, Sean Wei Mah, John Ralston, Cheryl De Luca, Chris Gauthier, Emily Alabi, T'áncháy Redvers and Aaron Dean Eisenberg will recur. ROOKIE, THE: FEDS (ABC) - Kevin Zegers is the latest to join the cast of the spin-off series as Brendon Acres "who is just out of Quantico. Brendon's got a lot to prove in his first posting - not least because his background as the lead on the long-running TV series Vampire Cop means few people take him seriously. His years of method-actor training led not only to martial arts and gun skills, but also a master's in computer science." (Deadline.com)
