Miguel Herrán and Susana Abaitua to Star in Prime Video Spanish Original Series "Los Farad"

The series, created by Mariano Barroso and Alejandro Hernández, will transport viewers to the Marbella of the '80s, a world of arms trafficking - and luxury

LONDON - July 13, 2022 - Today, Prime Video announced that Miguel Herrán (Money Heist) and Susana Abaitua (Patria) will lead the cast of the new Spanish Original series Los Farad, which will begin production shortly. The eight-episode series will premiere soon on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories around the world.

"We are thrilled to be developing a project of this magnitude and to be able to have the talented Miguel Herrán and Susana Abaitua on-board as leads in this incredible story," said Georgia Brown, head of EU Originals. "Los Farad is an action-packed thriller that we are sure will enrapture Prime Video's audience."

"Los Farad is one of Prime Video's most ambitious productions in Spain, which will introduce us to a family immersed in arms trafficking, the luxury of Marbella in the '80s, the ambition of power, and international relations during the Cold War," said María José Rodríguez, head of Spanish Amazon Originals, Amazon Studios. "We are especially excited to be involved in this project, which is about to start filming, with these two excellent actors, and the producers MOD and Espotlight."

The eight-episode series will introduce the audience to the Marbella of the 1980s through Oskar, a boy with dreams of opening up a gym and who, with the help of Sara Farad, ends up getting mixed with the fascinating world of the Costa del Sol, its jetsetting lifestyle, eccentricities, and geopolitics. This new world opens up to him thanks to the Farads, a family that offers him a future, but with the most unexpected of trades: arms trafficking.

Mariano Barroso (La línea invisible, What the Future Holds) is the director of Los Farad and co-creator alongside Alejandro Hernández (La hija, El autor), who is in charge of the script. Fernando Bovaira (The Others, Agora) is the series producer for MOD along with Anxo Rodríguez (Paco de Lucía: la búsqueda) for Espotlight.

Las Farad will join the thousands of TV shows and movies in the Prime Video catalogue, including Spanish-produced Amazon Original series such as Celebrity Bake Off España, LOL: Si te ríes pierdes, G.E.O: Más allá del límite, The Challenge: 11M, the upcoming premieres of Sin Huellas and A Private Affair, and award-winning and critically acclaimed global Amazon Original series and films including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Fleabag, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, Hunters, The Boys, Homecoming, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Good Omens, and Carnival Row, all on Prime Video, which is available at no extra cost for Amazon Prime members.

Prime members will be able to watch Los Fard with the Prime Video app, available for smart TVs, mobile devices, Fire TV, Fire TV stick, Fire tablets, Apple TV, consoles, Chromecast, Vodafone TV, and through Primevideo.com. In the Prime Video app, viewers can download all episodes to their mobile devices and watch them offline anywhere at no extra cost as part of the Prime benefits, for only €36/year.
