CHICAGO MED (NBC) - In the latest instance of gun violence on the locations of TV productions, multiple bullets pierced the fence of the show's set last week. "No one was injured during the incident, which occurred before the cast and crew were set to break for lunch," says the report. "Production was not affected." (Deadline.com)
ERAGON (Disney+, New!) - Christopher Paolini's young adult novel series "The Inheritance Cycle" is being developed as a TV series at the streamer. The books tell "the story of a farmboy named Eragon who discovers an egg that hatches into a dragon he names Saphira. Through their bond and the help of his mentor Brom, Eragon learns to be a Dragon Rider, an ancient order that had long been thought to be wiped out by the evil king Galbatorix. Eragon and Saphira set out to defeat Galbatorix and free the land of Alagaësia from his tyranny." Paolini himself will co-write the project with Co-Lab 21's Bert Salke also executive producing for 20th Television. The search is underway for a showrunner. (Variety.com)
FULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE (TBS) - The late-night series has been canceled after seven seasons. The network said in a statement: "As we continue to shape our new programming strategy, we've made some difficult, business-based decisions. Full Frontal With Samantha Bee will not return to TBS. We are proud to have been the home to Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and thank Sam, and the rest of the Emmy-nominated team for their groundbreaking work. We celebrate this extraordinarily talented cast and crew and look forward to exploring new opportunities to work with them in the future." (Deadline.com)
LAW & ORDER (NBC) - Claire Coffee will drop by the upcoming season as a lawyer. No other details were given about her guest starring role. (TVLine.com)
NEWSREADER, THE (Roku) - Daniel Gillies has joined the cast of the show's second season as Charlie, "whose billed as a a privileged first-born son of an aging newspaper mogul, desperate to make his own mark in the world." (Deadline.com)
QUANTUM LEAP (NBC) - Martin Gero has stepped in as the new showrunner of the reboot series, which has also tapped Dean Georgaris as an executive producer. They'll succeed co-creators Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt, who will remain with the show as executive producers. Thor Freudenthal, fresh from directing the first four episodes of Amazon's "The Therapy," has likewise been brought in to helm the project's new pilot episode. (Deadline.com)
WINNING TIME: THE RISE OF THE LAKERS DYNASTY (HBO) - Executive producer Rodney Barnes has extened his overall deal with the cable channel for three more years. (Deadline.com)
